I was thinking about posting it after ded_ emailed me the link, glad someone else did. I was never fond of MK4 or MKG, can anyone tell me if these combos are impressive for the system, or are there easily better combos possible than these? From my experience with the game, and with Maximum Stupidity on, that seems like it, but with it off, what kinds of big combos/infinites are possible that they obviously knew about and didn't feel like removing through gameplay adjustments?

After Konqrr told me that there were some really great combos in MK4, I tried it out. All the combosin the video with Maximum Stupidity (lol) on is pretty much what you can do with it enabled. Without it though, there is more. There was some nice Scorpion combos in there that I didn't know about.

thanks you posted this thread Assessino. Actually i made this mk4 video because no one else wants, i agree there are a lots of combos still to add (just found http://80.72.75.200/mk/archive/movies/kai_71.wmv)
I agree that they are easy to do combos, and most of them look excactly the same, but this is mk4 combo system. i PM-ed konqrr to send me any combos if he wants and i'll try to make another mk4/mkg video.
I know there are some 100% combos for arcade but they are unpossible to do in home versions. Its true that the vid is not something special but i'll be glad for any comments also if someone want to send any combo that is cool and are not included in video (i''m sure there are a lot) can always mail me.

The arcade graphics are better/shaper, but the gameplay is still just as weak. The video is good by MK4 standards I would say, I wish it was emulated cause I'd give it a shot with Konqrr and DreemerNJ.

i agree with Shock. MK4 for arcade looks better than home versions. Too bad its still not emulated by mame.

Those graphics are hard to look at. MK Gold for DC and MK 4 the arcade version do sport sharper, better graphics but I still dislike the look of the game. Great Combos though. I forgot all about that Maximum damage thing.

I liked the video, the topic of an MK4/Gold combo vid was brought up in the stickied UMK3 video thread, but after watching the viid - I guess it would be hard to make a decent long video, seems varied (or at least varied-looking combos are few and far between in MK4/G...
Still, decent vid, and I like the combos w/out Max damage on, but that whole concept is dumb.
One question, wasn't there Max damage in MK2?
After watching Konqrr's vid, it seems it performed similarly to the Max damage in MK4, but with no message showing up...

I think I know what you are talking about regarding Max damage in MK II. Yes and No. In MK II there are times where the computer will bounce you off of your opponent after a damaging combo but I think its there, just not officially.

Exactly. I guess it was introduced unofficaly in MK2, scrapped (with good reason) in MK3/UMK3/MKT and then re-introduced for some unknown reason to MK4...
After the great mk3/UMK3/MKt gameplay, why on earth would they reinstate Max damage? Why stop there? Why not take out everything that was good in UMK3 altogether, I'm surprised the Run button wasn't removed ...(Oh, I guess they were saving that for MKDA)

You know, I always wonder how the MK team could transition from MK3/UMK3 to MK 4. If you look at MK 3 and then look at MK 4, there is no comparison in terms of presentation. MK 3 blows MK 4 away in looks(IMO). Like I said in a thread earlier, MK 4 for me is hard to look at these days.

this is present in mk1 also, often when performing corner combo, but you can cancel "push away" with special move or fireball. in mk2 this often happens with standing HP where the HP do massive damage and is known as "MK2 Death Punch"

In MK2 this precursor to Maximum Damnit was because of a 4 hit juggle limit that was instilled on the system, a very dumb idea overall, but a good way to prevent extensive juggles. However, you can still get around it through canceling moves with specials. Even if you got a 4 hit juggle with Kitana in the corner, you can do a fan throw at anytime and it'll bring you out of push back, then land, HP, get pushed back, cancel again with the wave punch, etc.
In MK1, it was weird, some characters would push back off 1 punch mid screen sometimes, other would get two, sometimes you would see them get pushed back off one, but you could cancel the push back simply by mashing punch. A very weird concept.
MK2 introduced single hit proximity push back in the corner for uppercuts, but not on roundhouses (stupid not to) and jabs push back with one due to proximity, but in MK3, they changed the jabs to two hits (again based on proxtimity a little greater than MK2's) and still no roundhouse push back. Finally in UMK3 they brought in roundhouse push back, but in reality, you can break out of the roundhouse animation, even if you don't do anything. It holds the roundhouse at full extension on the iceskate, but it still runs through the actual duration of roundhouse frames while it's holding, which is why you can run in immediately and get a little extra juggle hit or two depending on your choice since there's no frames. If the roundhouse completed you'd still be able to run in. Push back in the corner is almost a way to simulate there not being a wall or sorts but it doesn't work that well all the time.
