Did they realese UMK3 for PlayStation?

But the best version (and only version in my world) of Mortal Kombat Trilogy was for PSX. It reproduces the gameplay of UMK3 extremely well so almost any combos you want to do in UMK3 you would be able to do in MKT since its gameplay is almost identical. Plus, more characters and backgrounds, just not as good graphic wise as UMK3 for the arcade.

the gameplay of mk trilogy is a bit different from the one of umk3 :

1) the lao's infinite combo version "spin, run in, jumpkick, divekick, spin, etc..." is no more possible in psx mk trilogy. we are obliged to do the version of the combo with the hp's.
2) the characters fall less quickly, they stay a longer time in the air, so aerian combos are much easier to perform.
3) the hitboxes of the characters are different, since they are not as much tall as the sprites of umk3 arcade.

that's all I can think of for now,but these 3 little things bring actually many differences between those 2 versions.

The falling and hitboxes are pretty much identical for characters between UMK3 and MKT if you are using an up to date MKT. Early versions of MKT for PSX, MKT for the PC and MKT for N64 all had less gravity and some had very bad hit boxes.

Lao's infinite removal is a definate difference, but one that I personally welcomed because that was a stupid infinite to leave in (and from what I've heard it was also altered or removed from Wavenet UMK3). Its a shame they left the ducking kick infs and semi infs from MK1 though, that was really sad.

one bad thing about mortal kombat trilogy for the ps1 is the music there no ending to the song witch really takes away from the game makes it seem incomplete. but else wise its pretty much umk3 for the ps1.

MKT was infinitly better, but ppl also forget scoprs second finisher changed, we all kno that in UMK3, he dragged them to hell, fryed, then blew them up, whereas in MKT, a hand comes up, grabs the victim (disintegrating them) and then went back where it came from. (hell) but then i hear thats not the end of it! enter the N64 with the Gang fatality (back to hell thengrin) where instead of fryin and blowin their ass, a few more of scorps ran on and tore the opponent to pieces.

it wasnt important i kno, but this is true

UMK3 for the arcade had the Toasty and the Scorpion Pack fatalities.

in the arcade thats true, but on home UMK3 it was different
I have MKT for PSX too but I dont think its superior to UMK3 MAME.

The loading times for itself sucks major.
In the time I play 3 MKT Matches I can play 5 UMK3 matches because of the loading time.

And yeah, I know you can make them shorter by using some options, but on PS2 it sometimes chrash then.

Than we have Shang Tsung Load times for morph witch isnt a big deal but its there.

Then we have some horrible unpolished backgrounds like the Bottom Pit where you can see for example the end of the Background because Midway was soo lazy that they didnt make them longer but simply end the level with black background, yeah I know its actually doesnt make the gameplay different but those tiny things let the game looks like a lazy work.

Then we have the broken MK2 characters where Midway simply forgot to reduce thier damage from MK2 to MK3 damage.

Noob Saibot, I think I dont have to explain it, but one thing: Fireball witch disable completly the enemy = stupid.

Then the whole graphics looks less good than UMK3 Arcade.

And I think I have the 2nd edition of MKT (I have the europe classic edition)
and the gameplay IS NOT 1:1 UMK3 imho.
For me the gravity is slower too.
Its easier to juggle for me for example.

So all in all I think less is sometimes more in the case between MKT and UMK3.
