I just figured i ask this question that has been on my mind for a while,so i figured why not ask online?
Well,i'll start it off,i loved the game,i know alot of people weren't too crazy about it.I really it though for the most part.
I remember when i first got it,i beat it in a week or so,and all of my friendwould ask me how to get through the second stage(wind god stage) with the part of making the timely jumps on the windmills, and the swinging rocks.I had that timed down to the T.I loved the challenge of that stage especially along with the rest of the game.
Well, anyway,i guess i was wondering if any other MK fans on here enjoyed it as much as i did.

i enjoyed it for one reason, i tried extremely hard to like it.
good-
exellent story line
classic mk scrolling style kept it close to previous mk games
combos and variety of special moves that were good
decent graphics
UMK3 Scorpion
bad-
control 0/10 couldnt get any worse
at times the obstacles were extremely difficult for no reason
could have had more characters from previous MKs but still a great story
the levels at the end (the shinnok fortress or whatever) was long and boring and long and boring and long.....
did i say the controls sucked?
overall this game was bad but i enjoyed it. i wish they would have let the public test it out more before they released it, this could have been the best side scrolling fighter of its genre easily but they were lazy or thats how it seems.
they should have had UMK3 scorpion as a playable character, they had enough sprites to do it WHY!?!?!?

I like it. It's a solid challenge, has a good story, and I really like the levels / bosses.
Sado listed all the pros & cons which I agree w/ 100% (especialy about UMK3 Scorpion playable, and shoulda had more classic MK characters).
Still, I found it a while ago for $5 - and imo money well spent, cus every now and then I'll pick it up and play.
Another con for me though, is the fact that by the end you have all these kick-ass special moves (some of which should be used for Sub Zero - or even better, Noob Saibot - in future MK games) but I find myself only using a select few...
For MK / Sub Zero fans, great game - everyone else, probably not...

MKM SZ is a very underated game.
I had no problem with the controls and found the obstacles challenging and rewarding. The story is interesting and the gameplay is a lot of fun.
It's one of those games that you can play again just for the hell of it.

I thought it was a superb game and thought that the only way they could've made it better was if you didn't have to play it on the Normal difficulty to play past the Fire Element level. I have it for N64 and I thought it was a solid game. I got it for $7 at EB Games about a year ago. It sucked when I first played it, cuz I kept getting stuck at the Wind Element level, but then when I started to play it again the beginning of this summer and I read a walkthrough to help me out, I really thoguht it was a fun game. But soon I'll probably go to EB Games or something and pick up the PS version so I can watch the cinematics.

Yeah,i have it for the N64 too,i have played it for the PS too as my friend has it,i thought both versions were pretty much the same except for the loading time for the PS version in which the N64 version didn't have obviously due to the cartridge, however i loved the actual movies on hte PS version which i would have love to have seen on the N64 version.the PS version also showed the when Subby fell off the swings or whatever, they show him falling like MK2's pit a little. But i love my 64 version alot.
I still play it alot once in a blue.

The cinematics are actualy very good - not the acting - but the scenes are cool. From the first one where Quan and the Lin Kuei Grandmaster send Subby on his mission, to Scorpion in the Netherealm, even the intro was cool (and kinda like the MK4 intro dialogue). Definitely worth getting the PS version, just for the FMV's...

i havent played the PS version, im basing my analysis off the n64, i would imagine the PS is better

If you like the moviesget the PS version, otherwise they are virtually the same.

I played it a while ago but i'm stuck in the 2nd stage(wind stage) and i quit. Windmill was no problem though..heh Donkey Kong practice..

I enjoy:
Reading the story..
Reminding of the bosses..
and even watching the videos..
But Danm! that game was hard! The control resembled MK1 a lot, but it was harder.

Florentin, to get past that part you have to have picked up the circular key, and if you have it, press the menu button, and use the key. A tornado type thing will appear, wait for it to thicken after like 5 seconds, other wise you'll fall down. Anyway, after you get across to the other side, jump from the platform you land on to the bridge, go under the left end of the bridge to get the triangular key, then jump on the moving platforms, timing your jumps, and get across to the other side. Then go back to the tornado and go up to the platform where you use the triangular key. Inside there, kill the first monk, then freeze the second one like 5 times so he stays frozen, then push him on the switch so you can advance into the room and run in the room to grab the key. Run out, jump over the monk, don't fight him, and get back outside to the platform you were just at, then go down in the tornado to the other platform to the right, across the bridge, and across the swinging platforms, and then use the key you just got to open that door. Jump fast on the next few platforms because they break off after like 2 seconds, when you get to the one that was level with the last one, that one wont break off so you can jump to the swinging platform, then jump to the next platform, then you jump to the windmills, then past them you jump in the wind thats blowing to carry you to the boss.
FYI after killing the boss, hell make this self destruct tornado and unless you go to the very far left end of the arena and crouch, youll get sucked up in it too.
FYI if you plan on beating the game, play the game on the normal difficulty because after the fire element level it wont let you play anymore unless ur on the normal or higher difficulty.

I remember when that game came out and. I thought it was going to be the best thing ever. The reason I enjoyed it then because it was Mortal Kombat. I can't say the same thing if I went back and played that game today. The controls were tough and annoying. It wasn't horrible, but then again it wasn't great either.

Against the wind god, there are two ways of beating him, like someone else mentioned, every time Fugin does the wind move to suck you in you can go all the way to the right and just crouch and subby will automatically hold on to the rock, but you have to hold down.
OR
The way i did it for the first time i beat this guy,i did it the hard way lol, when he does the wind move turn in the opposite direction and run but NOT constantly but not mildly either,it's hard to do,but if you are near one of the edges when fugin does the wind move to suck you in,it can be done.I've done it,not easy though,i suggest the first one over this one.
As for the wind stage,i was about to explain in vivid detail, but the gentleman two posts before me cleared that up nicely.
But if you have any more questions,i'll be glad to help you out Flori,if not me someone else i'm sure will help you if i don't see it first.

I enjoyed the game, but I found that some of the bosses where just over-powered; I remember fighting the Keepers on the Bridge of Immortality and getting my ass handed to me all the time because their moves were so devestating (especially they're flamethrower attacks; 3 seconds exposed was all it took to kill). Also, the special items were too uncommon (only two Dit Dow Formulas, Invulnerability Shields, and Eyes of Invisibility), and if you died while using them, you'd never see them again.
I also hated how to beat Shinnok you needed at most seven Urns of Vitality, when the game gave you one less than what you needed (you'd need the use the password to start with ten Urns and then you'd be able to beat Shinnok's true form).
I've never been able to beat the game without the Invulnerability and 1000 Lives passwords.

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
To beat Shinnok after you take his amulet, you must use seven Polar Blasts (this might be less actually, but I'm not certain as to how many); each blast will drain away some of his life. Considering the PB requires a full Ice Meter, you NEED to use an Urn of Vitality to replenish it after each blast. When Shinnok's completely drained, he falls off the bridge. I'm sure more people knew how to do this, but meh, I'm posting it just in case. It's kind of fun to watch him go down.

I only played that game once, at a friend's house, on the N64 version when I was somewhere around the age of 8 or 9... I think... regardless, from hearing how all of you guys were able to beat it I think I was just really bad because I kept getting crushed by the ceiling. I can't be positive on the level I was playing, but it started with Scorpion telling you something then running away. You then followed him into the next room, where a good section of the ceiling proceeded to fall directly on top of you. It fell to fast for me to run under so I was kinda stumped. Looking back I realize that I had no idea what I was doing so if someone could please just tell me what level I was on and how to get past the ceiling it would be helpful.

You were on the very first level and if I remember correctly, you just had to run straight underneath all of that to the other side. The controls were exactly the same as on MK Trilogy and had the Run button. The only additional button was the Turn button.

Ah, thanks, I thought I was on the first level... but I also thought I was running. Eh, either way, it was quite a while ago and I'm not sure whether or not I'll ever play that game again. Thanks anyway.
