well ed boon was interviewed in E3 couple of weeks ago and they asked him about Mortal Kombat II and how every body so lovin this game and still play it and he said that they talked about it in midway about the all 2d mk games and he said maybe they will remake mortal kombat II or something and put online playable and when saw that part of the interview i was so happy that they decided to make another 2d game...(and it will be a game on its own like not in "midway tresours II")

A remake would be cool, but adding Jade, Smoke, and Noob Saibot as playable characters would be even better.

It would definitely have to have something added, like the secret characters being playable or MK2 itself being turned into a 3-D game.

Just a regular remake though would be dumb, since MAT2 is coming out soon.

I think a remake could be fun but I don't believe right now that its going to happen.

If it did though, it'd be nice if they could include something like run to make the gameplay a little quicker, and maybe tighten it up to remove all those fun big damage combos

Negative.
MK2 gameplay should be left in tact. You want run and auto combos, go play MK3.

I agree. A remake would kill the game. Don't do that and leave it as a classic.
