I'm gonna jump right on this one.

The fans created him, the concept, the color, the name, his existence, everything. A complete manifestation of the players and Midway took advantage of it to keep interest in the game, so no he's not a character for MK1, he was created by the team as an actual character for UMK3.

Yes and they got his name by an error,called Error Macro=Ermac.

Yeah an error that actually existed in Smash TV, another Midway game, and never in MK1. It was just there in the audits to stir up controversy, and boy did it ever since we're still talking about it 12 years after the fact. It was there in the early revisions, and taken out in the T-Unit Versions.

OK, I'll tell you, Ermac was created for UMK3.

Ermac in the original MK was a glitch turning Scorpion's outfit red. I believe that does not count in regarding Ermac as a character in the first MK, because it is basically Scorpion with an altered colored costume that was not supposed to be in the initial game of MK.

In UMK3, Ermac had his own set of moves and a storyline built around him. I would say that Ermac is more of an UMK3 character and his origins were based of the glitch in the original MK.

I am glad that in MKD they had Ermac return and focused more on what Ermac is and how he was created, and the approach they made with a possible future for Ermac who started off as another pallete swap ninja character in UMK3 and was absent from the MK scene for nearly 8 years.

Oh really? Have you ever seen this? Or are you just taking someone's word for it? Because I could have sworn that never actually happened.

True,countless threads about these,it's annoying....how many people has came here and said they saw Ermac in MK1?....too many,and too many more will come claiming that crap....sad but true....for something that never existed besides a crappy fake pic in a magazine.

Not to fuel more discussion (because there really isn't need for any) but if the "glitch" existed in MK 1, it would have turned up in MAME by now, someone would have state-saved it, and the infamous secret/glitch/whatever would finally be exposed for all to see.

Too bad you can't save state on Mame with MK games. Damn you Midway and your annoying encryption. But umm, yeah the roms have been dissected and there is no evidence of Ermac.
