Fatality Impotence...Please Advise

Recently I bought Midway Treasures 2 for Playstation 2. I've been reliving my MK3 youth, but I can't make any of the fatalities work. This is a game that reflects the arcade so I assume all the fatalities would be the same, since all the moves are. Is there an additional trick that I am not doing? The computer can do them on me, my buddies and I just can't seem to get it done. Fatalities including the move "up" don't seem like they will work because of the time it takes to complete a jump. If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong, please let me know.

Hold block when you're doing a fatality that involves pressing up, do all the taps fast like you know you should, and remember to stand at the right distance.

If you're from a distance and the fatality must be done close up, U can jump to the opponent and press the fatality commands, so that after the jump u will instantly do the fatality, some characters even have freezed frames in the air, if U did the commands fast enough.
