I know some people here have some experience messing around with MK4/MKG. Can someone tell me which system they've done it with, and what I need to begin tinkering around with it?

I did it on the since it's the easiest, and because I don't own the PS version or MKG.
My friend helped me with the character models. I skinned them and did the sound

I think I know at least 2 people who did a similiar shit called "MK4 Revisions"
EDIT: Yes, blacksaibot is the person I was trying to remember tongue, and there was someone else that did it too but I think he goes to another board.

How easy is it to mess around with? Are the skins just sitting around in a folder as a bitmap or something? Or do I need some special program to extract skins and load skins to and from the models? Can you actually fidget with the fighter's moves any? I'm really tempted to get it for PC if I can mess around with it.

I used MK4 Strip to extract everything.
I don't know what my friend used for models.
MK4 Strip lets you edit skins through Bitmap.
Sound files are in .wav format.

Yeah it's easy, well... I think it is. A lot of people have trouble with it and think it's so frickin hard but it really isn't. They get confused with words like compile, extract, decompile, etc. I don't think you're that intellectually challenged, so it should be a piece of cake.

**One thing I know that's possible to do is make Sonya (for example) have Scorpion's moves or whatever. Or have two Scorpions in the game.. so if you wanted Human Smoke and Scorpion both in the game. Cool shit like that.

I'm no stranger to those words. I used to do some heavy duty modding for Quake1 so it should be a walk in the park grin

Putting Human Smoke in is exactly what I was talking about. That would be fucking shweet. I don't mean to keep making you go into detail, but if I had sonya have scorpion's moves, could I make it so she had a spear, and sub's ice? Or is it just giving her a charecter's complete move set? I just really wanna make sure I know what I would be able of creating if I were to purchace the game.

I really don't know all the possibilties. I'd have to ask my friend what he did, if he even remembers. I haven't done this kind of stuff for a long while. (When I my hard drive fucked up a few months ago, all my mods went with it).

As far as I know and what I've done, I haven't seen a character have multiple moves from more than one character. I'm pretty sure there is a way. Nothing is impossible. It's just a matter of if you can find out how to do it.
Quirk if u did some good modding for Quake one... maybe u should try doing some for War3: Frozen Throne

I'm assuming you're talking about WarCraft 3? Wanna know the reason I did mods for Quake 1? Here's my system specs.

AMD-K6 350mhz processor
VooDoo3 videocard
Some old-ass soundblaster
external 56k modem
A dinky monitor with the max resolution of 800 x 600

Yeah. Aside from Quake1 and prolly MK4, I can't really run anything fun on my computer sad Although I could have a really kick ass system if I didn't spend all the cash I've spent on my consoles. I've got 15 of them, including all the next gen systems (Ngage doesn't count, it sucks)

I'm pretty sure you can use 3dsmax for the models.

Wow. This stuff is cool. I've made a skin that turns Sub Zero into Human Smoke. Only fitting since it looks like smoke is coming off of Sub Zero anyways.

I know how to edit sprites, Wavs, CD audio and Skins, but how in the heck to do I give charecters another fighter's move set? I would like to have sub zero have all of scorpions moves but MK4 Strip doesn't say how to do that. Hyuga, Baclk Saibot, some help?

You can't edit any of the movesets, just the graphics, sounds, and if you have a modeling program, models. But that's it.

Actually you can, but MK4 Strip doesn't help you with it. My friend has done it before. You need a to either edit the actual MK4.EXE or get a .DAT extractor to extract more than just the image/sound/model files. You have to find out where it assigns the model to the moveset or somthing like that.
You should be able to download editors from download.com
I asked my friend how he did it and that's what he told me.
