I think the program is called Camtasia or Camstudio or something like that. It lets your record a portion or all of your screen to a video file as you play the game. Then you get a video edittor and put it all together.
And having the good content is what attracts people. Beating Kintauro probably won't be much of an attraction as its a pretty easy task. What are you looking to feature in your video?

Oh ty.
Some guy told me that he never beat kintaro xcept with kitana, ill just show how u can do things that r gonna make the comp leap at u =P, and u can do diff hits, not like in konqurr's video where he does them all vs an opponent that doesnt move, or just jumps up or sumthing.

Kintaro is actually the easyiest character to beat on any difficulty on MAME versions. Just use "The Late Jump Kick" system. It works with any character and on any difficulty level. I can capture and post a video with random character if someone wants. I also WIP for mk4 combo video, you can take an early preview here: http://80.72.75.200/mk/archive/movies/ded_/mk4nomax.wmv It still has a lot of work about it, this is really early preview. I use CamStudio and Virtual Dub for edit.

So you are making a video of fighting the computer?

Yes, i wanna show how to beat the comp =D
But how difficult is that, what I would like to see is a video beating the comp in style.
With kombos which only the AI will fall for, example:
Liu Kang - On any male Ninja, Raiden - Middle of the Screen
Jump - Kick/ Bicycle Kick/ Cross-up - Kick/ Air fire-ball/ Low Fire-ball
The jump kick, bike kick must be fairly deep, then when U cross-up, the opponent will hop on the spot, but his kick will miss U, the Low fire-ball in the end will be blocked, it just looks nice.
This kombo only works on side 2, and not on the first 2 fighters.
A guy in my Arcade once defeated Kintaro perfect in a round with Raiden, ending with a Cross-up Kick, QCF+LP, hitting Kintaro in the air, not as he's standing. A few ppl turned their heads stunned.
Bring me back the memories by making a video similar.

I cant play on player 2, coz u have to jumpo at comp and step aback and then comp jumps at u, works with all chars...
On player 1, wihich is what i play, u jump back with high or low kick, and then the comp jumps at u, it works only with sub-zero, jax, reptile, scorpion, shang tsung, and kung lao(only a couple of enemies, later enemies wont do that)and cage...........see so i cant play as mileena or raiden =(, ill get owned =(.

If you use MAME you can simply take EK MAME wich is a heavy modified MAME that has a built-in AVI Record!
I used this already for my latest 2 Videos so it really works.
And by the way, a Video of beating the CPU isnt really something special, when I have a good day and some luck, I can beat Kintaro with anyone Double Flawless, it,s just a pattern you have to memorize and some good reactions.
The only cool think would be a "Always Double Flawless Superplay" like someone did that on SF2 always Perfect Win on Level 8.
But I doubt that this is possible on MK2 Arcade on Very Hard.

I would like to see more MK videos surface. Maybe a history of type thing, or an evolution of kombat or something like that would be very cool. But don't use Tecno Syndrome as your theme song.....lol.
And more Kombo videos are always welcome. I wish I knew how to make that stuff. :)

I NEED SOME HELP!!!
Thanks to this thread I dl'ed Camtasia studio 2, and have been recording MK1, 2, 3 and UMK3 mame combo's for a vid.
Ok, at first I couldnt do it, cus whenever I started recording, mame would become very slow and choppy, so no chance of combo'ing. I fixed that however, by changing the the recoding area to fit just the mame box - and everything is fine. I can perform the combos and record them, no problems there.
I can get them in the sequence I want, add the music, turn it into a windows media player file etc - no problems there either.
BUT the video quality when piecing the video together, and when it has been changed into a windows media player is all choppy and crappy. So when I play the vid, it is all slow and choppy..
Do u guys know what is wrong and how to fix it?

The first two things that pop into my mind are that the video quality is set too low or too high.
If its too low, the quality will be terrible and it will just be bad, but chances are there'd be low detail in the video, and possibly choppy.
If the quality is set hugely high it might be too great a bitrate to play right in which case the video would be awesome detail but too choppy to watch.
Do you know what you are setting it to when you produce the final video?
Also, the Camtasia program can eat a lot of compute cycles (to quote Jurassic Park) which is why recording as you play can cause some slowdown, its not bad on a fast computer but on one thats in any way slow it will get pretty bad.

Thanks a lot bro,
I broke down ur post, narrowing it to the things it could and could not be. In the end, I ended up realizing it must be the level of video quality...
Turns out the frame rate when recording my combos was something ridiculous like 2.0/s - and that was the reason why it was terrible quality...
So now I have it set to 40.0/s and I'm curious, what is the frame rate set to for u guys when u make your vids?
Ps - My vid is coming along nicely now, I think I have about 3mins worth of footage so far

I used to always capture at 30fps because I would usually encode the final video in that. I didn't do the encoding for our combo vids though because my computer freaks out capturing as MK played so MK2KB captured at 24fps I believe.

Yeah it's funny, when I first began recording my combos, there wasn't much lag on mame...
Now it's getting a lot tougher to perform them! But I am persevering, and am nearing completion!
One more question, I am having a problem in the quality of the video after producing it into a windows media player file. I see most of the vids you guys have made are wmv's, so can you tell me what specifics you guys use when producing your vids?
Thanks in advance

MK2KB usually did the final run through because my computer is so much slower then his. I am pretty sure he used WMV9 or something like that. There is a chance that if you download one of them and right click it and go to the advanced properties for it it will show you frame rate, bit rate, resolution, and exactly what codecs it was using. My computer shows all that info in the properties for a video file but that might have been something I added to windows, can't remember.

Thanks a lot, but now I have switched from camtasia to windows movie maker. Its very easy to create a wmv file, and that was the main problem...
I'm about 80% done my video - just got to add a few more combos and then finish the editing, and hopefully I'll have it completed and hosted by tomorrow.
I will make a thread, so look for it soon!

Ahh I see, what I always did was capture the video and save it as this screen capture codec that is super high quality that came with Camtasia. Then I used another program (usually Adobe Premiere) to actually put the whole thing togehter and export for others to watch.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing now...
Capturing w/ camtasia, then moving the video clips to windows movie maker
I'm now about 85% done, but I'm kinda out of combos! I was trying to limit doing ones I've seen in your vids, but if you see a few - that's cus I need to fill in my final 45 seconds...

Are there any characters you don't have combos for?

0
Well, yes and no...
I have a combo from everyone in UMK3, but some do not surpass the 50% barrier...
Those include Jade (I've heard of one, that I dont have a hope in hell of doing, she is in the corner, foe jumps, she runs out and RH's, then shadow kick, then RH again, and a HK to finish = 4 hits - 60%...I tried it, and I cant get past the shadow kick
)
Kitana
Mileena
Scorpion
Reptile - Another I have trouble with, capturing them makes completing combos hard, with the lag and all...
That's all really, any ideas?
