I imagine Liu Kang's death was very hard on Kitana, because she loved him and he was, in a way, symbol of hope for her. It was probably harder on her than anyone else.
But she didn't give herself time to grieve because she immediatly joined the fight against the Deadly Alliance. She put business before her personal life, so to speak.
I suppose if Liu is indeed back for good at the end of Deception she will be thrilled to have him back.

I guess she was real sad...kitana's ending of DA tells us that she wished that liu kang had joined her many years ago in edenia...so that she loves him is clear...I still dont understand why liu kang had to be that brave hero and leave her to protect earth...anyway, i hope that they'll end up together once and for all...

she was feeling depreesed when he died but my theory is that kitana hated liu kang becuase he was more popular than her so she decide
to have him killed but when she sent the assasian it was too late

I was shaken. The deserved demise of the greatest MK champion. Punishing and ruining his arch enemies life and ambition, he defeated the man in every term that could compete with him. However, as payment for this, Shang Tsung made it almost even, when he killed him.

I felt proud to have theese complex personalities (Liu and Shang) in the MK saga, and the two with this act sealed thier immortality in the games universe.

I was happy. Others than Liu did have the chance to prove thier liferights.
Kung Lao and later Shujinko, both awesomely designed characters. Kung Lao, needless to say was pretty much better than Liu in every way, and Shujinko, despite his weak move stealing, was the third bad-ass good guy.

I was happy when Liu died because he was a friggin' gloryhog
