Back in '93 or '94. I'd heard many good things about Mortal Kombat and I was curious, so I bought MK1 for SNES. Thought it was a lot of fun and I thought the story was good. Around the same time MK2 had come out in the arcade which was even better and the rest is history.

I didn't really start to like it until MK3 came out. The combos sucked me in. Man, I must have played MK3 5 hours a day. I was 7 or 8 at the time.

I was 8 years old when I 1st saw and played Mortal Kombat 1 back in 1992. I liked it alot because it was simple moves , cool special moves, interesting characters, and things called fatalites. Most of all it was fun.

i didn't get into mortal kombat until the second 1. I was introduced to it when i went to a cousins house and they were playing mk1 but i wasn't really impressed. But when Mortal Kombat 2 came out i got addicted and then mk3 came out and i just went crazy over it.

When it first came out me and my friend were playing MK1 we didn't know any of the moves or fatality's. We use to sit there and jump and punch, then one day jhonny cage beat us and did his head decap fatality. We were blown awaywow,we started buying books so that we could learn the moves and fatality's. Hook ever since then.

Back in '95, when I was 8. Me and my buddy just tried it out, BUT, that was the lame-ass Famicom MK3, which was just MK2 with doubled characters.tongue

Then, I saw the movie, I recognized Scorpion, and I htought that it was extremely cool. I got a Genesis a year later and MK3 was my first game, after that I was hooked, it was so realistic compared to NES, I was like "Wow! Blood!" lol anyway, from that point on I was hooked.

BTW, interesting fact: back in 1997 - '98, before I moved ot Canada, I lived in Ukraine, back then, Mortal Kombat was at the peak of its popularity. EVERYBODY played it, hell, I even taught my mom, she can kick my ass at MK3-MKT with smoke sometimes, lol.

Around early 1993, a friend of mine said there was this new game at the arcade featuring ninjas that had graphics like a real life movie, and that the characters killed eachother.

I went to check it out and liked what I saw.

It was 1992. My local arcade had just gotten this new game called mortal kombat. I was 10. went and watched a guy in a trench coat playing and was amazed at one thing. BLOOD. that blew me out of the water because i was obbsessed with horror movies and i loved it. Then he lost to sub zero and something amazing happened. Sub zero tore his head clean off with spine attached and all. I was floored. I played the game every day. i became good and mastered it with all my friends. in 1994 i won the "official" MK2 tourny at my local arcade. Mortal kombat has been in my blood for 12 years and counting.

First of all, I've been way into video games ever since Super Mario Bros. on the NES. My parents bought me an NES and SMB for Christmas, and I've been a geek ever since.

When I got older (about 10 or 11), my parents used to go to this one casino almost every weekend, and there was a video arcade there for the kids to go to, and they would usually give me 20 bucks and tell me to page them if I needed more money or anything.

For a long time Street Fighter 2, Ninja Gaiden, Pac-Man and Outrun were my fav. games to play. All until one weekend when they had two Mortal Kombat (MK1) machines setup on the opposite side of Street Fighter 2.

I remember there only being one or two people around the machine with one of the games open. So I put some money in to try it and OH MY GOD! THIS GAME WAS HOT! I couldn't believe the extremely high-quality digitized images, and the gameplay felt so much tighter and better than Street Fighter 2.

Needless to say, I played that game the whole time that first day. I was completely mesmorized. And after playing against some older and wiser human opponents and seeing all the awesome special moves and fatalities, I knew this game was something special.

Soon after I told all my friends about it, and before you know it.. I had my friends involved in the game too. Then Mortal Kombat machines started popping up all over my local area in arcades and inside small miniature golf places, and magazines like EGM and Gamepro were posting all the special moves and fatalities for the game in recent issues.

Then of course they announced that the game was coming to the 16-bit consoles and I was pumped. The media fuss started soon after, and not long after that MK2 arrived and it was MEGA! It was so much greater than the first one, and I knew MK would be around for a long time.

But to answer the question, I would say that I started liking Mortal Kombat that very first day that I played it in the arcade back in '91 or whatever it was. It was just too cool for words.

This is why I'm so excited to play the 'arcade-perfect' playable of MK1 on my next-gen system. It's been so long that it will almost be like re-living that part of my life all over again. And even though technology has advanced so much, and so many bigger and better games have come along since that time, I still consider the first two MK's to be two of the greatest games of all-time.
