compared to UMK3 the game sucked. But at the time it was released, the MK3 kicked some ass.

MK3 had the worst character roster ever, UMK3 had more stages, moves, combos and characters. mk3 sucked

What was it missing? Tons of pallette swaps, Johnny Cage, and Raiden? Nothing special.

I love MK3.

It had an OK roster but compared to the others, it would be pretty bad considering they took some of the best characters from the game.

I loved MK3 when it came out. I was very happy to see the roster get shook up. I was never a fan of them keeping the same characters and moves over and over in fighting game series. That and the look was redone, and I really loved the new look. The way the backgrounds were, the musics, the character designs. And then on top of it, the gameplay was phenomenal. I had played MK2 a bunch (not in the arcade) and was amazed to be able to get around the screen so much, the better juggle system.

Overall I thought MK3 was a very good game. UMK3 is better in terms of gameplay because it is much more balanced even with its much larger roster. But at the same time, MK3's roster was very fun and different. I kind of liked not having so many pallet swaps in the game.

I loved my PSX MK3 (still do) and until UMk3/MKT came out, it owned. Of course it's succesors built upon the mechanic, but it was so refreshing after MK2, so superior in every sense. Perhaps because I only experienced MK2 on the Amiga and Genesis at the time, but I felt it was a bit of a let down after MK1. So when I came to Canada and bought MK3 as one of the first games for my new PSX, I was pleasantly surprised.
As Dreemer already said, the backgrounds, new characters, crisp graphics, great gameplay and general apocalyptic theme - especially since it is set on Earth - make it a really cool game.
Ok, playing it today, makes it feel like it's lacking due to UMK3, but I still profess that it feels more of a complete 'game' (i.e. storyline, character roster, backgrounds etc.) than either UMK3 (MK3 with improvements, but the added content seems out of place) or MKT (a hash of every MK, built on the MK3/U engine).

That's why MK3 is still my fave MK fighting game, only MKMSZ surpasses it in my opinion.

in that game misses(excluding UMK3 characters):rayden,baraka,Cage,four bosses,Sheeva,Noob,Rain/this aren't playable in al versions...

Sheeva was in all versions of MK3. And Rain hadn't been invented.

Sounds like he wants to talk about MKT but not exactly, whatever the case may be, UMK3 = the worst MK ever is the antithesis of reality.

Jax had uber cool moves in MK3. Sindel had uber cool moves in MK3. Everybody did.

Lack of ninjas is one of the reasons MK3 is so good. They're completely overrated.

You are right about that one.But I still have to disagree on the ninjas they are still cool!

Loved MK3. It was the best MK until UMK3 came out.

MK3 is my most played game (I own an xbox, so I obviously am playing MAT2 the most), I play it more than MKD and halo2 and my other games. I dont yet own MKA tho.

I loved the cyber ninjas. that was something new rather than having the human pallate swaps all over again. kombat codes were cool. THe Ultimate kombat kode and smoke was an awesome . I thought that was the coolest idea, and smoke was a really good character with really good look (smoke puffs, harpoon out of chest, lavendre-purplish color). the new high tech look and feel they gave it was good. something different from the mystical asian look of mk2.

Awesome post that is how I feel about this game except I play newer games more often.

The only problem i had with MK3 is that i feel that some of the arenas were gay. I hated the street, the bridge, the bank and the level above the bank. To me theres nuthing cool or excting about them. Not all of them where bad but those r just the ones i hate the most. MK3-MKT r my favorite games.

i liked MK3 a lot, one of my fav 2d MK games.

I loved it. It was my first MK game I owned. I got totally addicted to it. Also MK3 isn't as cheap computer wise.
