When you die in MK3, it asks you to enter the Ultimate Kombat Kode. Put in:

10902-22234

You may need a friend to help you, or if you want to try it by yourself, it'll probably take a couple tries. Good luck!

It's not even worth it though; I did it, and then turned the game off after I was finished playing, and upon turning it back on Smoke was gone.
