i was just wondering, did anyone buy the mkda strategy guide? for those who did, did, by any chance, you look in the back for the game facts.
it tells what characters were in the game, what the bosses were, what secret characters there were, and the victor of the tournament.

if you look here's what it says.

mk1 - victor - liu kang
mk2 - victor - liu kang <<<<<
mk3 - victor - liu kang
umk3 - victor - liu kang
mk trilogy - - victor - liu kang
mk4 - victor - liu kang
MK MYTHOLOGIES SUB-ZERO - victor - liu kang <<<<<
MK special forces - victor - liu kang <<<<<<
mkda - victor - to be discovered

kung lao won the second tournament and, most definatly liu kang couldn't have won sub-zero nor could he have won special forces because he's not in the game!!!!!

just wondering if anyone noticed this.

I don't have the strategy guide, but I've looked at it, though I haven't noticed this. You're right about MKM:SZ and MKSF not being won by Liu Kang, since he wasn't in the games. But what makes you think Kung Lao won MK2? I don't think I ever read that anywhere. Also, as I understood it, MK3/UMK3/MKT and MK4 really didn't have "victors" in the sense of a sole winner of the tournament, because they weren't actual tournaments. They were wars between the forces of good and evil, and the "winner" in each of those were the forces of good.

I also noticed another error, regarding Reptile. In his section, it says that now that Liu Knag is gone, Reptile stands alone as the only character to appear in every major MK "tournament," with Sub Zero excluded because in MK1 it was the current Sub's older brother. But Reptile wasn't in MK3. He WAS in UMK3 and MKT, if you want to count those as part of the same tournament, but then Scorpion has been in all the tournaments too.

Well there were many errors in that strategy guide. In that strategy guide, they also said that Scorpion was part of the Lin Kuei but as we all know, that's far from true.

But anyway, I have seen some debate going on as to who defeated Shao Kahn in MK2. I think that Liu won because why would Kahn in MK3-MKT want Liu elimanted so badly? That's because Liu Kang foiled Shao Kahn's plans in the past (however Shao Kahn was successful in getting Sindel) so Kahn sent his extermination squads to get rid of the earthrealm fighters, especially Liu Kang.

Well MKT and MK Gold did follow the storyline so you'd have to count Reptile and Scorpion being in every MK.

But then characters like Johnny Cage would had appear also in every Mk game. He wasent in Mk3, but he was in MkT.

Guess it depends on what you consider in all the games. I consider MKG and MKT nothing but upgrades to their original games. Therefore I consider MKT, MK3 and MKG, MK4. Cage's story in MKT followed in to MK4. On the other hand I don't consider Goro and Kintaro part of the MK3 storyline because they had no story. So Goro only appears in MK1 and MK4. Blah so confusing but I think you get the idea. Basically all characters with a story are part of the storyline. Even lame asses like Khameleon.

I don't think that anyone really won MK2 tournament...it directly lead into MK3, or am I high?

If anyone did, it'd have to be LK.
