I read the whole artilce, and finally here is an article that finally gets everything right. All those mortal kombat games belong there, ANd I especially like where it sais mk2 (2d) set the standars for all video games to come. Finally someone who is not biased against mortal kombat. The artcile is right about one thing though, I am waiting for MK6 lol :)

Really cool. Until I got to MK2 I thought they forgot it. I was glad to see it in the top 3, although soul caliber should not be on top.

meh switch mk2 and soul caliber
oh well a pretty good list, suprised MKDA was on it at all to be honest even though i really enjoy the game myself.

MK2 should have been number 1, and MK1 should not have been #20..but that's just my opinion, I could be wrong...
SC being #1 is ok, but was it really as groundbreaking and unprecetented at MK?? MK(2) pushed the limits of everything from engines and gameplay to story to violence. SC didn't show me anything I never saw before. I dunno, I think MK set the bar way more the SC did...

The first soul calibur was amazing. It came out in 1999 and no one had ever seen a game that perfect. There were no glitches to speak of and the characters were very balanced. IMO SC is superior to SC2. I think it deserved to be #1. It was far ahead of its time. I acctually got myself a dreamcast just to play SC1. The game is just that good.

I think that Mk 2 or Mk:Da should have been number 1. I thought sc1 sucked, i mean there really wasnt much to it. I did like sc2 though, it was a lot better then the first. Its really over rated.

Its an interesting list. I'm really not suprised as Soul Caliber being #1. I am a bit suprised at Mk2 being #3. I guess it did set a stage for things but it always seemed to me that MK3/UMK3 was the finished deal, however I know my opinion is biased by gameplay more then just about anything else. Thats why I also think VF4:Evo should have been #1 with UMK3 a high ranking game as well. I always felt the Soul series was so well loved because of the extremely short learning curve, but it never seemed to reach the depths of VF4:Evo. Likewise MK2 had the graphics and awesome character design but UMK3 took the actual gameplay to an entirely different level.
well you have to add in sales, fun factor, mainstream appeal, and everything else. mk2 pretty much sucks major ass compared to umk3 in the gameplay department. hell, even mk4 for that matter. but ask the casual person on the streets and they'll always say "mk2 waz da best d00d". always. so the number three spot is pretty much spot-on.
