I didn't know if anyone knew this already but I thought I would post it just in case anyone didn't. If you get hit when you are impaling someone (right when it hits into them) then you will keep your weapon out, and they will be squirting blood and losing health, but with nothing in them though. But I've only done this on the gamecube version and with Sub-Zero.
