Is it 100% true that MK3 was unfinished when it was released?

and that they originally had planned to put Scorpion/Reptile etc in but just didn't have time?
I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, I'm just curious from a historian aspect. Does anyone have proof/documents/interviews anything like that?

If they had the time to finish originally, would it have turned out just like UMK3 did (with all the extra ninjas?)

I remember getting a strategy guide that even mentioned they were planning on releasing UMK3

Yeah, they had UMK3 planned out before they even released MK3...But as far as ur question goes, I don't think they meant to leave anything out, or didn't have time to put anything in. But, as far as releasing it before they actually had everything working properly in it, well that might be true. I think that would be true for all the MK arcade games, becaue for many of them they released updated editions, (version 1.2, 2.0, etc.)

I don't think MK3 was unfinished. Based on the promo videos and the angle that they were going with for getting the game out, my guess is they were planning from day 1 to release MK3, and then follow up with an update to the game.

In comparison, I'd say MK3 was more complete at release time than MK1 or MK2. It was actually pretty close to how MK2 was after a few updates, and by revision 2.1 it was way beyond the level of completeness of MK2 3.1.

I heard it was rushed to come out around the same time as the movie.

No MK game has been 100% complete when it has been released. Even MKD/DA were not "finished" as there are numerous flaws with them that need(ed) to be addressed but could not be due to console only release. Hopefully with next-gen systems we won't have this problem and the games will be patchable.

This goes for a lot of games besides MK, Halo has it's share of glitches or things that aren't complete.

There are a lot of games that are rushed often, but hopefully MK:A will change that.Based on Malone's E3 report that makes me feel a lot better about MK: A then the previous two.

I heard all kinds of rumors pertaining to MK3.

Socom 3 has 3.5 megs of patches you have to download before you can play online. All that has to go on your 8 meg memory card. It's ridiculous. I want a hardrive.
