Take the picture for what it's worth. Just took it today.
It's cool: play on Mame, Revision 3.1, very easy difficulty.
Jump kick Kintaro to death without dealing with his block-grab counter. When you jump, make sure you are a tad over his head. He'll try to uppercut you. (That's the key: try to get altitude on him without jumping over. If you jump toward his front, he'll definately block, and you run the risk of getting groped) Even if he is allowed to uppercut, chances are it won't hit you. When he starts to uppercut, kick and it will always take priority over his upper. Repeat this. He'll start getting desperate, and will try to fireball you. If you keep steady rhythm, you'll jump right over and plant a nike symbol on his noggin. Then he'll try to stomp you. If you have REALLY good rhythm, you'll hit him as he's jumping.
Soon enough, he'll be flat on his back wondering why he got his ass kicked.
Just thought I'd share that.

im glad someone other than myself has discovered that pattern. thats one of many fun and easy ways of defeating kintaro. even tho all bosses and sub-bosses have ways of easily beating them, i think kintaro is still the hardest of them all simply because he can sometimes disrupt the pattern u r using sometimes. nice post

To this day I think I have only beaten Kintaro with Kitana. I'd just hit back back back back back back back and then when he got close enough, hit HP for the fan lift, then combo him. This is what I did, back when I would play the arcade and try to get everyone's ending:
-Pick one of the easy characters (where the jump-back thing works)
-Beat the CPU up to the question mark, then fight Jade
-After the Jade fight it lets you select a character again; at this point I pick Shang Tsung
-beat the CPU Shang Tsung
-Beat Kintaro by morphing into Kitana
-Lose to Shao Khan, then continue
-Pick the character who's ending I wanna see
-Beat Shao Khan
So if I wanted to beat it in two quarters (or just one if I didn't care about the ending), I needed the Jade thing so I could have Kitana when I fought Kintaro. So I'd love to try these techniques out; it'd be nice if I could just keep using whoever I wanted through the whole game. Thanks for the tips!

Funny this was brought up. I have MK2 both for mame as well as a cabinet. I could not get this trick to work on the real game. But In mame It seems to work flawlessly. Anyone else noticed this?????? (maybe it is just me but i doubt it I tried for quite a while)
