why does everyone like UMK3 than MKT?I dont understand,MKT has every character back then and all levels while UMK3 had fewer things than MKT?

Agreed. The gameplay was definitely better in UMK3.

Yeah, agreed although Noob, Rain, Kung Lao, Kung Lao MK2, Jax etc, etc lol are really, really broken in MKT more then in UMK3.Some of which aren't even in UMK3.

Reptile's newer infinite I don't think works in MKT.

Unless, someone has done it.

It's still great practice though and certain characters aren't that different.

But I'll play any MK, UMK3 was more balanced though.

In many ways, MKT for PSX (the later versions) plays almost identical to UMK3. The difference and the reason MKT is broken is because of what was added. Noob and Rain are hideous. Why bother making the gameplay match up so well with UMK3 if you are going to stick in crappy god tier characters?

Also, some of the characters do MK2 level damage in MKT. MK2 Jax, MK2 Kung Lao, Baraka, and Johnny Cage do MK2 level damage which seems stupid and broken (because MK2 level damage means more damage off of every hit). This leads to the very broken MK2 Kung Lao. He is a monster.

UMK3 has its broken bits as well, but they are less exploitable and game breaking than the brokenness you see in MKT which is why I prefer UMK3.

I don't know what's so good about rain, it seems that if the properties of his RH were tweaked a little (so the hp, rh, hp.. inf doesn't work) he would be useless. Even without noob's disability cloud I find him much better.

hp,hp,hp, dash, hp,hp,hp, dash?

Yeah, tweaking the roundhouse would do a lot to balance Rain. Roundhouses are powerful weapons (just ask Chuck Norris) and to do a super roundhouse that is faster than a normal roundhouse, sets up an infinite, and is just a regular move (no extra button hits to make it happen) is just insane. Take that away and the deadliness drops a ton.

That might explain it, I've been trying it on the N64 and it's really hard.I haven't done it yet.

I have the PS version too, I'll try it on that one.

Plus it seems like they threw some stuff into MKT just to make it flashier. The Aggressor meter is lame, the new characters are poorly balanced, and they had to tone down the graphic quality to fit more stuff into the game. UMK3 was a breath of fresh air, a way of improving on an existing game and adding more play value, but MKT was just too much.

But that's just my opinion.

for N64 aaHPx2, F+HP, Dash infinite works, i'm not sure for the corner infinite
I play my PSX Trilogy all the time. I love Trilogy, but it does have stuff that I don't like. Either missing/wrong or added shit.

- Ermac looks like the Mokap base. He's supposed to be darker, and have dark skin.
- Rain should be darker. He's the same color he was in the SNES UMK3.
- A lot of the MK1 levels are missing, and the MK1 Levels have the wrong music.
- Kahn's Shadow move effect was changed to green.
- The Aggressor meter is stupid, imo.
- Some of the BGM instruments are different.
- Some stages are missing their animations.
- Some stages seem stretched, or cut/pasted to fit the screen. Some corners are closer in than they are supposed to be, cutting off the ends of some levels.
- CPU AI is insane! They can also fire off several specials without any delay.

That's all 9I can think of off hand.

ohh I think I know what I'm doing wrong lol.I'm only hitting HP once, then trying to dash, HP and back again. So, I have to get two HP's in there, pretty much tap HP twice then.Is that right?

You have done it for the N64?

BTW, tetra I know Ermac was tan, but I don't remember Rain ever being Tan.
Not Rain's skin. His outfit is supposed to be dark. Look at the Rain sprites at MKW.

I think there is still some confusion with the reptile infinite. Generally you need 3 high punches in between dashes for it to be an infinite. Depending on the situation/character, you can either do 3 HPs in a row, or the more common one: hp,hp (cancel, walk forward), hp, dash....

It would be neat to see some reptile combos for buggy trilogy. You might only need 2 HPs for the midscreen infinite. glasses

I think the first part had to do with that pesky lawsuit from the MK1-2 era. The missing MK levels in MKT:

Warrior Shrine: Daniel Pesina, Ho Sung Pak and Elizabeth Malecki's images are in the background

Shang's Throneroom: Ho Sung Pak is in the background

Palace Gates: None of the suing party are in this background, but the stage is rather bland, and was probably left out for space reasons. It does however, make half an appearance in MK1 Kano's ending...

And the Courtyard had MK1 Shang Tsung replaced by Shao Kahn (and changed the stage name to Kung Fu Part 1confused)

So I think that's why some of the stages were missing. As for using the MK3 music for the MK1 stages, probably to save space also. Strange too, that The Pit has a different skyline and moon...

Ohh lol, ok.Yeah, I agree with you. It's a lighter purple compared to UMK3.

Dave, yeah well I have been trying it for an hour now lol on the N64.Tough as hell man lol.

I only got a few dashes in.I noticed I had a little bit of a easier time pressing both HP and LP, and it seems to juggle him higher, then I can dash and continue but it's hard....really hard and annoying I must say.

I can't imagine someone doing that across the whole floor back and forth without failure.I've seen Shock a.k.a. MK2Kung do it, props to him for doing it consistently, it is hard I tell ya lol.

Also, also it's only possible off of the forceball and not the HP, HP, LP launcher.correct?Because I was also trying to do it that way, but that seemed even more difficult then the mid screen forceball start.wow

Jax and Stryker are easier to juggle then the rest of the characters I also noticed.

I don't know man, I'll try it with the three HP's like you said that might make it work as an "infinite" but it's definitely tough.

You can't fail with buffering the dash, otherwise you'll have no chance. It's fun to do though I must say.

there are 3 original infinites for reptile (umk3 arcade/mkt psx/mkt pc) that i found, and they have lots of variations.

1. Original - aaHPx3, Dash, repeat
- Variant #1 - aaLP, aaHPx2, Dash, Repeat
- Variant #2 - aaLPx2, aaHP, Dash, Repeat
- Variant #3 - aaLPx3, Dash, Repeat

*It works on Sindel, Jax, Unmasked Sub-Zero, Kabal, Female Ninjas (very difficult) and Kano (difficult too). It dont works for N64.

2. Original - aaHPx2, F+HP, Dash, Repeat
- Variant #1 - aaLPx2, F+HP, Dash, Repeat
- Variant #2 - aaLP, aaHP, F+HP, Dash, Repeat
- Variant #3 - aaLPx2, F+LP, Dash, Repeat

*It works on Sindel, Jax, Kano, Male Ninjas, Nightwolf (very difficult) and Stryker (its easier on him). It works for N64.

3. Original - aaHP, F+HP, Dash, aaHPx3, Repeat (corner)

- Variant #1 - aaLP, F+HP, Dash, aaHPx3, Repeat
- Variant #2 - aaLP, F+LP, Dash, aaHPx3, Repeat
- Variant #3 - aaLP, F+HP, Dash, aaLPx2, aaHP, Repeat
- Variant #4 - aaLP, F+HP, Dash, aaLP, aaHPx2, Repeat
- Variant #5 - aaLP, F+HP, Dash, aaLPx3, Repeat
- Variant #6 - aaLP, F+LP, Dash, aaLP, aaHPx2, Repeat

... and so on. It works on Female Ninjas best, Stryker and few other characters. You can get at least 3 cycles for N64, i dont know if its infinite there but for UMK3 Arcade, MKT PSX/PC it is.

The N64 version still has it called the Courtyard in the Stage Select; weird to change the name on one system. confused

I didn't know that, that is strange.

Wonder what the Saturn and PC versions lists it as? (Or the Game.com/Tiger versiontongue)

On another note, didn't they do something similar with The Bell Tower for MK3...

Its listed Kung Fu Part 1 for Saturn and PC too. For Game.com this kombat zone is missing i think but there are weird names for some of them so i cant be sure.

The Belltower is listed as Shao Kahn Tower i think on home version of UMK3 (probably not the Saturn)

Thanks man, lol that makes perfect sense now dude. The most I got so far on the N64 was 2 cycles, it's hard as hell lol.

Like you said, it's easier on UMK3..I have no doubt.I can't wait to try it once the 360 version comes out.I'lll give it some more trys.wink
