FOR YEARS, me and my twin have waited and waited for MK 4 to be released in it's arcade version. 1, 2, 3, Ultimate 3 have all been released on special editions of MK Armageddon and Deception, along with Shaolin Monks and Midway Treasures. I asked Ed, and he replied:

So, there's hope. You know, we've bought 2 Dreamcasts, JUST to play the best version of Mortal Kombat 4? Yep. Ha-ha, anyways, even the little things we can still see makes it MK Gold. Yes, the graphics surpass MK 4's arcade graphics, but things like blocky shadows, no blood splatter whenever a body part hits the screen (excluding Kitana's fatality), and extra characters and arenas... Certain sound effects like the Prison's fan going into overdrive is unheard in Gold, in Liu Kang's Dragon fatality, there is no extra blood flying and landing after Liu Kang throws the opponent on the ground, no shaking of the screen when an explosion happens, etc.

Do any of you wanna see a release of MK 4 in it's arcade perfect form? I know I do. Gold doesn't stand up to it.

MK Gold does not have better graphics than the arcade version of MK4. For example, and Im surprised you have not noticed this, in mk4 arcade, sub zero's ice clone glitters until it disappears. In MK gold it glitters for a split second and then looks like the ice clone in the PSX/N64 version. Im surprised no one has ever mentioned this.

The arcade version's graphics are extremely sophisticated. When the camera zooms in on a particular object, the detail shown is much greater than MK4 in any other version. For example, in the prison stage, there is steam coming out of the center grid, and that's only in the arcade version.
