MK Character bios. (Theyre entire storyline so far)
Hey I've been doing character bios for a while now. Hoping that they'll eventually be used on Kamidogu.com. (Since I talk with the webmaster) I thought I'd give you guys the first exclusive look. So far I've gotten Liu Kang, Kung Lao and Scorpion done and am working on Older Sub-Zero/Noob Saibot. Here we go with the first one:

Liu Kang

Alignment: Good
Origin: Earthrealm
Status: Shaolin Monk/Champion of Mortal Kombat
Allies: Kung Lao, Kitana, Raiden, Kai, Johnny Cage, Sonya, Jax, Ermac
Foes: Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Shinnok, Onaga, Tanya

Liu Kang was born in China and raised by the Order of Light, he had heard many tales of the Mortal Kombat Tournament and its vile leader; Shang Tsung, who stole the tournament from the Shaolin, Liu Kang desired to return control of the tournament to the Order of Light, he followed the teachings of the Great Kung Lao and trained to be a Shaolin Monk, later after he grew up, he joined the White Lotus Society and trained with Master Bo’ Rai Cho a native of Outworld, who had long since despised Shang Tsung and desired to help Earthrealm, although he himself could not compete as a victory from him would’ve been a victory for Outworld. The training was intense, but Bo’ Rai Cho felt he had given Liu Kang the edge he needed.

With his training complete, Liu Kang returned to the Order of Light and asked for permission to compete in the Mortal Kombat Tournament. He was granted his request. Liu Kang departed for Shang Tsung’s island where he met his soon-to-be longtime friends, Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade. As the three warriors advanced through the tournament, they were assisted by the Thunder God and Earth’s Protector; Raiden who mentored them through the tournament. Eventually Liu Kang earned the right to challenge Goro, the current champion and the one who killed the Great Kung Lao. Although every warrior who had fought Goro before had died, Liu Kang had planned for this battle, by exploiting Goro’s overconfidence, he was able to defeat the Shokan Prince and with that he became the Champion of Mortal Kombat. But Liu Kang would later learn that this would come with a price.

When Shang Tsung learned of Goro’s defeat at the hands of Liu Kang, he sent his army to wipe out the warriors and personally challenged Liu Kang to Mortal Kombat. Although Shang Tsung had the ability to transform into many warriors, Liu Kang was able to defeat Shang Tsung using the Flying Kick technique that Bo’ Rai Cho had taught him, as Shang Tsung lay unconscious, the island began to collapse, Liu Kang quickly escaped the island and began his journey home.

When Liu Kang returned to the Shaolin Temples, he found them in ruins, on his way home, an army of Outworld mutants called Tarkata had attacked the temple. When Liu Kang returned, he met Kung Lao, together the two vowed to avenge their Shaolin Brothers. After they were warned by Raiden, the two traveled into Outworld to compete in a new tournament.

It was here that Liu Kang secretly met with Kitana, the stepdaughter of the Emperor Shao Kahn and through her, he learned the true nature of the tournament. It was all merely a diversion so the Emperor could begin a resurrection in Earthrealm. Liu Kang advanced to the final round in the tournament where he faced Shao Kahn himself. Shao Kahn was strong and it seemed nearly impossible, but Liu Kang was somehow able to pull out a win. With this, Liu Kang and his fellow Earthrealm Warriors fled back to Earthrealm to prepare for the coming invasion, but Kitana remained behind. Liu Kang paid respects to his fallen Shaolin Brothers and accepted these events as part of his destiny.

Liu Kang along with his friend Kung Lao began training a new generation of Shaolin Monks, but shortly after the invasion began as the souls of nearly every human on Earth was taken by Shao Kahn as the planet transformed into part of the Outworld. Liu Kang was one of the souls that were spared thanks to Raiden, who chose these warriors to liberate Earth from Outworld.

With this knowledge, Shao Kahn sent his extermination squads throughout Earth to hunt down and kill the remaining humans. Liu Kang found himself the primary target of these extermination squads. Liu Kang and Kung Lao hearing the words of Raiden traveled to the Native American Nightwolf’s camp where they would be safe from the extermination squads. It is known that during this time, Liu Kang met with Kitana again and vowed to help her free her mother Sindel from Kahn’s control, who had been the key to the Earthrealm invasion as well as set free Kitana’s home realm of Edenia which had been taken long ago by Shao Kahn.

When the final battle commenced, Kung Lao fought with Shao Kahn, but met an apparent end at the hands of the Emperor. Raiden also tried to fight Shao Kahn but to unknown reasons lost as well. Enraged by Raiden’s loss and the apparent death of Kung Lao, Liu Kang challenged Shao Kahn for the final battle that would once and for all determine Earth’s fate. With sheer will, courage and strength. Liu Kang defeated Shao Kahn and liberated Earth. Before the portal closed, Kitana thanked Liu Kang and the two parted ways.

Liu Kang began recruiting for new members of the Order of Light, in America, he met Kai and the two traveled into China, Liu Kang was to help Kai become a Shaolin Warrior. However, Raiden and Fujin, the Wind God appeared before them, the Heavens were being invaded by a fallen Elder God Shinnok, who Raiden had banished to the Netherrealm millions of years ago. Liu Kang agreed to help, but when he learned that Edenia had been seized by Shinnok and Kitana had been captured. Liu Kang journeyed into Edenia by himself to save her.

Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful. He returned to Earth where he began to assist Raiden by gathering together Earth’s warriors for a battle with Shinnok. Liu Kang also reunited with Kung Lao, who had actually survived his battle with Shao Kahn. Eventually the final battle with Shinnok came. Shinnok with his powerful nearly seemed invincible, but it was merely a copy and when the ninja specter Scorpion trapped the sorcerer Quan Chi, who had possessed the real amulet in the Netherrealm, Shinnok’s powers faded and this allowed Liu Kang to defeat Shinnok for good.

As Liu Kang returned to his Shaolin Temples, he bowed and although he had saved Earth, he thought he had lost Kitana forever, but then a portal opened and Kitana stepped forward. Kitana thanked him for freeing her realm from Shinnok and offered him the chance to marry her and rule by her side as King of Edenia. Although Liu Kang wanted to, the responsibilities of the Mortal Kombat Champion lay deep, for he could not age as Champion, he had a responsibility to defend Earth. Although both Liu Kang and Kitana loved each other very deeply, the two parted ways once more.

Several years later, Liu Kang went on to enjoy relative peace. One day, on the Li Tei of the Wu Shi Academy, Liu Kang practiced his katas with Kung Lao watching him. However it was the not the real Kung Lao, it was Shang Tsung. Shang Tsung snuck up behind Liu Kang, but Liu Kang turned around and a fight broke out. Liu Kang had the advantage and surely would’ve won if it had not been the sorcerer Quan Chi, who had escaped from the Netherrealm. Quan Chi stunned Liu Kang with a blast to the back allowing Shang Tsung to get Liu Kang in a headlock. Liu Kang struggled to break free, but it was no use. Shang Tsung snapped his neck and then devoured his soul. Liu Kang was dead.

Inside Shang Tsung, Liu Kang would be tormented by his evil along with other victims of Shang Tsung’s soul drain. Through Shang Tsung’s eyes, he witnessed the battle between the Deadly Alliance and Raiden and then the return of the Dragon King. Raiden’s blast of his godlike essence destroyed Shang Tsung and Liu Kang’s soul along with the thousands of others were free to ascend to the Heavens. However, Liu Kang remained behind to assist his friends in the fight against the Dragon King. Liu Kang discovered that an unknown force reanimated his body and was using it as a tool of destruction. It had killed innocents and though Liu Kang was not the perpetrator of these crimes, he could not help but feel responsibility and his friends had been enslaved by the Dragon King. In Outworld, Liu Kang’s soul met Ermac, who was eager to redeem himself and prove that he was a force for good. Together the two traveled through Outworld to stop Liu Kang’s body and free his friends.

It is not known what will happen until Mortal Kombat 7, but in Liu Kang’s ending, after his friends are freed and the Dragon King is defeated, Liu Kang’s spirit and body confront each other in Earthrealm, but neither are able to gain the advantage, but an unknown force merges the two back into one and Liu Kang lives again. Only the next game will tell if this ending is canon.

Here's the second one..

Kung Lao

Alignment: Good
Origin: Earthrealm
Status: Shaolin Monk
Allies: Liu Kang, Raiden, Bo’ Rai Cho, Kitana, Johnny Cage, Sonya, Jax
Foes: Goro, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Shao Kahn, Onaga

Kung Lao is the last known descendant of the Great Kung Lao, a former Champion of Mortal Kombat, who lost the title to Goro 500 years previous. Unlike his ancestor though, Kung Lao holds no desire to be the Champion of Mortal Kombat and would prefer to live a life of peace. Like his best friend, Liu Kang, Kung Lao is also a member of the White Lotus Society, however he left the Order of Light, but when the Shaolin Temples were attacked by Tarkata, Kung Lao joined Liu Kang in his quest to take revenge for their fallen brothers. After they were warned by Raiden, Kung Lao and Liu Kang journeyed into Outworld to compete in a new tournament.

Although Kung Lao would’ve rather not fight, he knew that there was no running away from this conflict, but also to honor his great ancestor. It is not known who Kung Lao fought at the tournament itself, but when he learned that the tournament was merely a diversion, he fled with the others back to Earthrealm.

Afterwards, Kung Lao along with Liu Kang would begin training a new generation of Shaolin Monks and reform the White Lotus Society, but when the Outworld invasion began, Kung Lao watched as the soul of nearly every human on Earth was devoured by the Emperor of Outworld, Shao Kahn. Kung Lao’s soul was spared, thanks to Raiden, who had him chosen as one of the warriors who would liberate Earthrealm from Outworld.

However Shao Kahn sent Extermination Squads to kill those warriors who had been chosen to protect Earth, Kung Lao was one of their targets. Kung Lao along with Liu Kang took shelter at the Native American Nightwolf’s camp where they would be protected from the Extermination Squads. Soon the final showdown came and Kung Lao challenged Shao Kahn himself. Determined to finally avenge his great ancestor, Kung Lao fought with the Evil Emperor. Kung Lao fought well, but was no match for Shao Kahn. It was believed that he had died, but this allowed Liu Kang to gain the edge he needed to finally defeat Shao Kahn. In actuality, Kung Lao did not die and merely decided to fade away to a life of peace and retire from fighting.

Time passed and Kung Lao enjoyed retirement, but it was not to last. Word somehow reached Kung Lao’s ears of Shinnok’s threat and the apparent return of Goro. Kung Lao revealed himself to be alive and reunited with Liu Kang. Kung Lao desired to finally avenge his great ancestor by confronting his killer. In Edenia, as the Princess Kitana met with Goro and was about to sign a peace treaty with him, Kung Lao made his move by scarring Goro across the chest with his hat, as Goro fell to the ground, Kung Lao jumped from the balcony above to the ground. Although she stopped the guards from attacking him, Kitana yelled at Kung Lao for attacking when they nearly had peace. Goro stood up and asked if Kung Lao wanted to challenge him.

Kung Lao said that it was merely a celestial strike for his great ancestor, but he did not come to fight, only to settle the differences between them. Goro said that his ancestor was a great man and that perhaps if he had won; it would be Goro’s own son settling differences with him. With a handshake, the feud between Kung Lao and Goro was finally over.

After Shinnok’s defeat, Kung Lao returned with Liu Kang to the Wu Shi Academy where he tried to retire from fighting again. Several years passed and one day as Kung Lao headed towards the Li Tei of the Wu Shi Academy grounds, he saw a horrible sight. His best friend, Liu Kang lying on the ground dead. Kung Lao held Liu Kang’s body in his arms and immediately threw aside his Shaolin beliefs, he would have his revenge on the one who killed his best friend. Raiden, who had returned from the Heavens once more, informed him that it was Shang Tsung who did the deed and that he had partnered with Quan Chi forming the Deadly Alliance. First he told Kung Lao to head to the remains of Shang Tsung’s island and wait for him there.

Kung Lao heeded Raiden’s words and on Shang Tsung’s island, he met his old friend Sonya Blade, she noticed that he seemed depressed, but would not offer an explanation as to why. As his other Earthrealm allies arrived, Raiden appeared and told everyone the events of what had happened. Using an old boat, the warriors traveled through a portal to Outworld, but they needed to fight an image of their worst enemy if they were to be allowed entry, for Kung Lao this came in the form of Shang Tsung.

In Outworld, knowing that his skills alone would not be enough to defeat Shang Tsung, he decided to seek out the one who had trained Liu Kang, Bo’ Rai Cho, but first he traveled to Edenia to speak with Kitana. He informed her of Liu Kang’s tragic death, Kitana was devastated by the death of the man she loved and eagerly joined the fight against the Deadly Alliance and together the two found Bo’ Rai Cho. Kung Lao also informed him of Liu Kang’s death. Devastated by the news, Bo’ Rai Cho agreed to train Kung Lao and Kitana. Although the training was intense, Bo’ Rai Cho was determined to give Kung Lao a greater advantage than he gave Liu Kang. Kung Lao learned the Whirlwind Kick from Bo’ Rai Cho and when the training was complete, they traveled through Outwold to deal with Shang Tsung.

Kung Lao and Kitana met with Raiden and the others and they marched towards Shang Tsung’s palace. Kung Lao and Kitana determined to take revenge for Liu Kang, challenged the Deadly Alliance. While Kitana fought Quan Chi, Kung Lao battled Shang Tsung. Although Kung Lao’s skills increased, it ultimately wasn’t enough and like Liu Kang before him, he fell at the hands of Shang Tsung.

However, this was not the end for Kung Lao, as his body lay lifeless and the ground. Onaga, the Dragon King appeared and resurrected Kung Lao and the other Earthrealm warriors and turned them into his slaves.

It is not known what will happen until Mortal Kombat 7, but in Ermac’s ending, Kung Lao is freed from Onaga’s control by the spirit of Liu Kang. Only Mortal Kombat 7 will be able to tell if this ending is canon.

In Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Kung Lao appears at the end of the tournament disguised as a Masked Guard and saves Liu Kang, but this may end up being non-canon as Shaolin Monk’s place in the storyline has been brought into question.
Here's Scorpion's bio. (Going by vow storyline here, because his non-vow storyline as you all know I think sucks major ass)

Scorpion

Alignment: Neutral
Origin: Earthrealm
Status: Ninja Specter/Champion of the Elder Gods
Allies: The Elder Gods
Foes: Quan Chi, Moloch and Drahmin, Sub-Zero the older, Onaga

Scorpion’s real name is Hanzo Hasashi, he was a family man, who wanted his wife and child to have the most comfortable life possible. His best option seemed to be joining the Japanese ninja clan known as the Shirai Ryu. His father, a former member of the Shirai Ryu forbad Hanzo from joining as he didn’t want his son to spend his life as an assassin, but Hanzo was forced to join in order to provide his family with a comfortable life. He was given the code name “Scorpionâ€? and became a master of shuriken.

One day, Scorpion was hired by the sorcerer Quan Chi to steal the Map of Elements from the Shaolin Temples in China, it was inside the temple that Scorpion met the Lin Kuei Warrior, Sub-Zero, rivals of the Shirai Ryu. Scorpion proclaimed that Sub-Zero would fail and ran off laughing. Ultimately they both reached the chamber where the Map of Elements resided and the two challenged each other for possession of the map. Ultimately by either arrogance or not being as skilled, Scorpion was defeated, as he lay on his knees, Scorpion pleaded for mercy. However, he was refused. Sub-Zero ripped his head from his body with the spine dangling beneath.

Scorpion’s soul descended into the Netherrealm where he was transformed into a ninja specter, most likely by either Shinnok or Quan Chi. Scorpion was told by Quan Chi that Sub-Zero and the Lin Kuei clan, after they had killed Scorpion, went and massacred his entire family and clan. Enraged, Scorpion sought revenge on the one responsible for it all: Sub-Zero.

In the Prison of Souls, Scorpion met with Sub-Zero, who had been sent to the Netherrealm by the Thunder God Raiden to recover an ancient amulet. Scorpion angrily yelled at the Lin Kuei Warrior, claiming that he killed him in cold blood and then killed his family and clan. Sub-Zero proclaimed innocence, but Scorpion refused to listen. Scorpion attacked Sub-Zero, but was defeated again. Now Scorpion had lost everything: his life, his family, and his honor. All Scorpion knew now was anger and the desire for revenge.

Two years later, Scorpion was offered the chance for revenge by Shinnok and Quan Chi, who for their own reasons wanted Sub-Zero dead as well. Scorpion was sent back to Earthrealm and would participate in the Mortal Kombat Tournament where Sub-Zero was said to competing as well. On the boat to the tournament, Scorpion grabbed Sub-Zero by the throat. Sub-Zero was shocked that Scorpion had returned. Scorpion proclaimed that he could very well kill Sub-Zero at this moment, but he was not a murderer and that they would fight at the tournament. Scorpion released Sub-Zero, who claimed that Scorpion was a fool for sparing his life.

At the tournament after Goro’s loss to Liu Kang, Shang Tsung sent his army to kill the other warriors while he himself challenged Liu Kang to Mortal Kombat. Scorpion along with Sub-Zero and Raiden fought off Shang Tsung’s army. When the battle was finished, Scorpion and Sub-Zero turned on each other and the two fought for what they knew would be the last time. Although the fight was long and hard, Scorpion came out the victor and in retribution killed Sub-Zero. With his mission completed, Scorpion turned to ash.

Not long after word reached Scorpion’s ears that Sub-Zero had somehow returned from the dead. Scorpion once again rose from the pits of Hell, where he stalked the Lin Kuei Warrior once again into Outworld to compete in a new tournament. Scorpion witnessed one of Sub-Zero’s battles where he was shocked to see the Lin Kuei Assassin grant mercy to his defeated opponent. Confused, Scorpion would later learn that this was not the same man who murdered him in cold blood, but his younger brother.

Scorpion fought with Sub-Zero in the tournament, where he defeated him, but this Sub-Zero he spared. Feeling guilt and the need to atone himself, Scorpion vowed to protect this new Sub-Zero to atone for killing his older brother.

A short time later when Shao Kahn made a failed attempt to steal souls from the Netherrealm, Scorpion was accidentally set free, free to roam the Earth once more, Scorpion declared allegiance with no one. He became a wild card in Earth’s struggle against Outworld. Wandering Earth, Scorpion was met by Shao Kahn himself, who knew that Scorpion could make a powerful ally against Earth’s warriors. As long as Earth and Outworld were merged, Scorpion could not return to the Netherrealm. Scorpion was enlisted into Shao Kahn’s army.

However, Scorpion’s allegiance to Shao Kahn quickly dissolved when he discovered Sub-Zero to be one of Earth’s warriors. Scorpion immediately switched sides and fought for Earthrealm. After Shao Kahn’s defeat, Scorpion was summoned back to Hell, only to know that he would one day rise again.

As Shinnok and Quan Chi planned their invasion of Edenia and their war against the Elder Gods, they desired to make Scorpion into a ally. Quan Chi made Scorpion an offer he couldn’t refuse: the chance to be alive again. But Quan Chi knew that if Scorpion finds out that Sub-Zero is one of Earth’s warriors, he will try to protect him. Quan Chi told Scorpion that the younger Sub-Zero took part in the slayings of Scorpion’s family and clan. Enraged, Scorpion broke his vow and joined Shinnok, but hid under ulterior motives.

Eventually Scorpion found Sub-Zero and the two fought one last time; ultimately Scorpion came out the victor and proclaimed that at long last his soul could rest, but Sub-Zero proclaimed innocence to the murder of Scorpion’s family and clan. Scorpion somehow knew he was telling the truth. It was then that Quan Chi revealed himself to be that murderer. Quan Chi had just been using Scorpion as a pawn to kill the Sub-Zero brothers. With that, Quan Chi attempted to send Scorpion to the 5th Plane of the Netherrealm. Thinking quickly, Scorpion grappled with Quan Chi and together the two were standing in the Netherrealm.

For the next few years, Scorpion would brutalize Quan Chi at any chance he could get. Scorpion’s powers increased the longer he remained in the Netherrealm while Quan Chi’s would weaken as they were in the lower planes of the Netherrealm. One day, Scorpion was attacked by the two Oni Moloch and Drahmin, who Quan Chi recruited to protect him from Scorpion’s wrath. Scorpion was defeated, but yet he continued to pursue the evil sorcerer.

Scorpion found Quan Chi reading a stone tablet. Scorpion’s spear shattered the tablet and Quan Chi ordered Moloch and Drahmin to protect him while he was to open a portal to escape the Netherrealm. Scorpion managed to fend off Moloch and Drahmin and chased after Quan Chi, who escaped to Outworld. Scorpion follwed him through the portal only to land in a different location. Scorpion could feel the sorcerer’s presence and would hunt him wherever he would go.

Scorpion found Quan Chi outside the sorcerer Shang Tsung’s house and attacked him again. However, Quan Chi’s powers began to resurface and Scorpion was surprised and overpowered. Ultimately it was a Rising Star attack from Quan Chi that caused Scorpion to fall into the acid bath.

Somehow Scorpion returned again and once again pursued Quan Chi. The hunt for the sorcerer led Scorpion to the palace of Shang Tsung. As he made his way through the lower chambers, he once again came across Moloch and Drahmin. Shang Tsung had secretly allied with the two Oni should Quan Chi attempt to double cross him. Scorpion fought well, but was overpowered by Moloch and Drahmin. The two Oni could not consume the ninja specter, but devised another way to eliminate Scorpion that would satisfy their cruel nature.

The Oni brought Scorpion before the Soulnado, which Shang Tsung had used a unlimitied source of souls, they hurled Scorpion into the soulnado. He surely would’ve been ripped apart had he not managed to escape into the void. Scorpion found himself in the Heavens, where he first lay eyes on the fabled Elder Gods, he would forever be changed by this encounter.

Scorpion and the Elder Gods witnessed the Dragon King’s return and the death of Raiden, taking notice of Scorpion, the Elder Gods transformed Scorpion into their Champion, making him more powerful than ever. For the first time, Scorpion descended from the Heavens with a new purpose: stop the Dragon King.

In his ending, Scorpion confronts Onaga in the Nexus and it is revealed that only he can defeat the Dragon King, which he does. Only Mortal Kombat 7 will be able to tell if this ending is canon.

If you're going to quote someone, quote them right. He said that Liu Kang is the only character that has a fatality where the opponent is NOT murdered.

In MK1, Liu Kang's "Fatality" was a scissor kick and uppercut combo that did not kill the enemy in a violent manner like all the other death moves (except if you performed it at The Pit when the uppercut knocked them in). The screen did not even go dark for this non violent move. I'm pretty sure Liu has this in MK2 as well.

Nice bios so far, you go very in depth. I look forward to seeing what you do next, and how much sense you can make of the more confused storylines, like Johnny Cage and his retconned death/ressurection.

I just thought of something. In the first game, when Liu does his fatality, they are launched into the air, wouldn't the fall break their neck or back or cause fatal head trauma? confused

Yes, indeed a real person would die... But a real person would be dead fifty times over even before the "finish him" bit if they were struck by a Mortal Kombat warrior. I still love that much maligned "fatality". though.

As for the bios: did you post the Scorpion one at Wikipedia?

Bye for now.

Nice. You gotta post Sub Zero though. I'm a n00b to these forums, but I'm not a n00b to MK - like a lot of people here I bet. I never thought about checking Wikipedia though. They actually have MK bios? Lol, that's really interesting.

Well, regardless, they'd still die though, wouldn't they?

If it says Fatality at the end then we can assume they're dead. The Super Uppercut would certainly kill me, that's for sure!
