Really goes to show how deep the lore of Mortal Kombat goes. It's not just a dumb violent tournament about people ripping each other apart. Although it took them a while to establish the theme firmly, there was a lot going on there even in the early days. It really makes you realize that some of these characters are thousands of years old, and have gone through many twists and turns throughout their lives.
