So I just won a new sealed copy of Mortal Kombat for PC on eBay today. I was just wondering if anybody else has it, and what do you think of it?

Are the graphics and sound arcade quality? How are the controls? Thanks.

It's not arcade perfect, that's for sure. Some BG's were altered and you have the DIP switches to screw around with.

The original PC release was probably the best MK1 port overall. The fatalities were there, it played good, but it had some sound issues (missing death screams, etc.). There's a patch for it, however. Though it's still missing the break sound in Test Your Might. Also, the music is MIDI and it won't run in Windows, unfortunately. It's still a nice collector's item. I bought it factory sealed from Ebay myself. Your best bet would've been the MK1/MKII compilation for PC, if you can manage to find it. It's rare. MK1 has WAV for music, taken straight from the arcade, all the sound is perfect (except for the STILL missing break sound in TYM), and MKII fixes the 1-sec Copyright screen issue on faster computers where you'd enter the cheat code. Both can run in a Windows environment. It's a nice all-around package.
