He was added in 3.0 and he started his hints in 4.0 I belive.

The collecters thing is 3.0 So we have Repile, but no reptile hints.

2 face Repile I had to beat the game 3 or 4 times. But its worth it lol.

Reptile IS in MK1 revision 5.0, cos I've fought him, but you need to complete the game about 5 or 6 times in a row for the shadows on the it to appear. My way of doing this was to use the cheat for one-hit kill and complete the game over and over in no time at all.

all of these responses kind of have the answer, but a member named REHAB posted the easiest way to get to reptile a few months ago and i tested it. I have a revision 5 stand up arcade, and REHAB's strategy works perfectly. Here it goes: I have never seen reptile jump down before a fight and say anything like "look to la luna", but he's in there. He is only accessible during the 8th cycle of the background stages. The best way to do it is to play a 2 player game for 8 cycles, then switch to a 1 player game and keep losing to the first person until u get to the pit. The first stage is the courtyard, so after u have gone through all stages and end up at the courtyard again, that is 1 cycle. Only pay attention to how many times u go to the courtyard, because u dont always go to every stage in a cycle. When u get to the courtyard marking the 8th cycle, (usually about 48 battles) do not let the second player continue. a 1 player game will start. lose to the computer until u get to the pit on the 8th cycle. there will be random stuff flying past the moon signaling Reptiles accessibility. get 2 flawless victories without using block, and do a fatality without using block. knocking them into the pit does not count. dont be discouraged if u screw up one of the rounds, because it still works even if u get a flawless without block on round 1, get hit and press block in round 2, then get a flawless and fatality without block in round 3. he doesnt even look green to me. more like a piss color. and he is "runs" like noob, smoke, and jade in mk2. i guess the idea for running in mk is older than i thought. the game over music plays at the end of each round also. i think reptile was the idea for the computer AI in mk2, becuase it is very similar. play reptile on very hard for the full effect.

Do i have to play 8 times through in one sitting or can i play for a few times thrugh and stop then pick up again later?

you have to go through all 8 cycles. If you interrupt the pattern, such as just leaving the game on for an hour and coming back, it will restart at the first cycle when you press the start button again. That's why people don't do it too often, it takes forever, and it was expensive as hell do to in the arcade back in the day. Does this answer the question?

Will he be able with hints and everything from then on or will i have to play through 8 cycles each time i want to make an attempt on fighting him? So far i've played through about 24 battles and still not even a hint.

8 cycles everytime. i have never seen him give any hints, and i've had the revision 5 arcade for 7 years. I don't know what the rule for triggering a reptile hint is. the only way to fight Reptile is to be patient and get through the 48 or so battles.
6 backgrounds * 8 cycles = 48 battles, but u don't go to goro's lair every cycle, so the total number of battles it takes to get to Reptile on the pit varies. TANGENT- the mk team seemed to like using math equations to trigger secrets, like 50 battles = Noob in mk2. $$$making secrets. The greediest one was mk4. it was expensive to beat the entire game 14 times in a row in group mode just to play as meat.

Ok great, got to fight Reptile, lost my first couple of times won about an hour after my first match with him (thanks to mame save state to go back right before the match)

You get in the spot 2 do the flam up thing, and jump up in the air, If you time up up right, you can pull it off as you land, and thus Scoprion will face Replile, Now its hard 2 do of couse.

Sonja is the only one that cant make it.

Revizion 5.0 allows ot use block for fatality.
