mk1 fun
i was playing mk1 for the first time in a few months, and I went into the dip switches and reset all of the game audits to 0 and put the difficulty on very hard. From this point on, wierdness occurred in abundance. I got my first Reptile clue ever, and I was only on the third person on the tower. I was Sub against Scorp in the warrior shrine and reptile jumped down to say bottom of the pit backwards. There was nothing i could think of that i did to trigger this. it must be random. While i fought scorpion, he did a double spear grab on me, which i have only seen done by the umk3 cpu. Then when I was in the palace, i heard goro jump and the screen shook for no reason. When i got to the last endurance round, i got a rare opportunity. i always wondered what the game would do on the last endurance round if i let the time run out while my meter was fuller than the cpu. i did it, and instead of goro jumping down which i thought would be cool, it just said game over. next i restarted but lost to the 4th person. the game over screen was the scrolling pit game over, which i have always wanted to find a way to trigger and still dont know how. a lot of people like combos, but these little things are cool to me and keep me playing mk.

Heh, Ive only ever seen Reptile jump down once and give a clue in the arcade versions:

And I was playing lots of MK1 when I was recording clips for the MK1 combo vid.
I'm pretty sure it is random, everything I've read about his clues say its random, but maybe your messing about in the dip switches changed something, cus I've never had a clue that early. The clue in that pic was like on the 6th or 7th cycle.

On a side note, Reptile became my fave character in MK1 when I was younger, but I was nowhere near good enough to get double flawless + fatality back then. So I've always wondered how I developed such fanboy fanaticism towards him. I'm guessing the clues were more frequent on the Amiga version...
