I might be mistaken since I haven't read Sub-Zero's ending in a few years and to lazy to go look it up I think it goes something like this. At the end of MK2 it is revealed that Sub-Zero Sub-Zero from MK1 was sent to kill Shang Tsung. Of course failed since he was killed by Scorpion. The Lin Keui sent another to finish the job. The younger brother of the older Sub killed by Scorpion.In MK2 again it was revealed that it was the younger brother of the sub from MK1.One of the many sub plots in MK3 focused on Sub-Zero leaving the Lin Keui and being marked for death and of course being chased by 3 cyber ninjas. Not only that Sub had to worry about Kahn's take over of Earth. In all the Sub we have now as been in MK2- MK: Deception. The Sub-Zero we 1st played on the 1st MK game was in MK1,MKT( Sub-Zero in MKT was only in for show and not fact as pointed out by the MK team at fight night 2002) and of course one other MK game I won't say if you don't know by now and by the way I am not talking about MKM: Sub-Zero. So when it says in MK3 "the ninja returns" it means litery that the same Sub from MK2 is present in MK3

Sort of I mean. People don't know about younger and older Sub-Zero if they haven't beaten or read the endings. I've know since 1993. When I was young I used to collect MK strat guides. I was never the one to beat MK with all characters. I never really mastered Sub in MK2 thus never beat the game with Sub. I found out in a MK2 strat guide about Sub ending far back in 1993. I would have to say yes a good few of MK fans know of Sub's history.

All the games after the first one had Subs bro in it. The original Sub Zero was transformed into Noob Saibot. There happy?

Mate, the older Sub-Zero that died in MK1 is in fact Noob Saibot and I’m guessing about 99% of the members in this forums know. If your unsure about any MK history then read MKO’s bible or visit sites like ‘Gamefaqs’ and theres a similar type ‘bible’ there.

Sub-Zero's mini MK bible!! 1990 mkm sub-zero - Quan Chi sends Sub Zero the 5th (older) to find amulet. Quan also sends Scorpion to see them fight for sh*ts and giggles. Sub kills Scorp. as reward for surviving, Quan annhialates Shirai Ryu (Scorps ninja clan) and Scorps entire family. Rayden,blah blah blah. after that isn't important

1992 mk1- Sub is sent to kill Shang Tsung by nameless enemy. Scorp shows up undead and pissed off because Quan told him Sub killed his clan and family. Scorp kills Sub in tournament, Scorp dessentigrates thinking his vengeance is complete. Sub goes to hell and becomes a wraith known as Noob Saibot. he now worships Shinnok. sort of ironic.

mk2- Sub-Zero the 6th (younger) is sent with Smoke to assassinate Shang after his brother failed. Noob spies for Shinnok. Scorp almost killed Sub but decided not to after seeing Sub give mercy to opponent. he realizes that its a different Sub and becomes his sworn protector as payback for roasting his brother like a christmas pig.

1996...ish mk3- Smoke and young Sub return to lin kuei HQ to find out that they are turning their ninjas into robots. thats not nice. Sub and Smoke are the next targets for automation. they run and somewhere Sub gets a scar on his eye. Smoke is caught and robotized. robo Smoke, Cyrax, and Sektor are sent to kill Sub. because Sub thinks the lin kuei are such jerks, he ditches the ninja costume. the three robo ninjas attack, but Smokes humanity takes over and helps Sub get rid of the other two. Sub fiddles with Cyrax's program to kill Shao Kahn and instead, poor Cyrax gets lost in a desert. Kahn's army captures Smoke and throws him in a dungeon so they could poke him with a stick later. Noob helps Kahn at first, but at Shinnoks order, he switches sides. in an attempt to control all the souls in hell, Kahn tries sucking souls from there. he failed but did get Scorpion (HA HA). later Scorp tries to turn on Kahn but fails.*NOTE* umk3's ninja Smoke and ninja Sub were not canon, meaning they have absolutely nothing to do with the story.

1998mk4- younger Sub goes to kill Shinnok with Rayden. he puts on the lin kuei uniform out of respect for his brother. Cyrax is found in desert and is sent to kill Sub again. Sektor is sent with Cyrax to bust a couple caps in him if he fu*ks up. Scorp finds Sub and tries to kill him. Sub says, "I didn't kill yo' famly!! neda' did my bro!" Scorp says, "GRRR I WILL RIP YOUR FREAKIN HEAD OFF" and Quan Chi comes out of nowhere and says, "it was I! HA HA! hey stay where you are! I have an amulet and I know how to use it! put that harpoon away!" he tries to jump through a portal and Scorp jumps in with him. now they are stuck in hell together. Sub leaves without a scratch.Cyrax gets messed up and found by Jax and is taken to Earth to become human, "I'm a real boy!" he then joins the special forces with Jax and Sonya. Sektor goes home to lin kuei HQ but ends up getting his robotic @$$ handed to him by Sub. why Sub went to lin kuei HQ is a question that eludes me. Sub is now lin kuei grand master. Sektor goes to Japan to start his own ninja clan called the tekunin. domo oragato, mr. roboto. *NOTE* Noob was running around in there somewhere, but because of mk4's vague storyline, nobody knows if he actually did anything.

2002 mkda- Noob's master, Shinnok, is dead so he works for Shao Kahn for a while and assassinates Goro. the deadly alliance breaks Kahn's neck like a friggin twig. so without a master he starts his own army, he looks for allies in Shao's dungeon. he finds Smoke. what a coincedence. Scorp is destined to kick Quan Chi's @$$ so he tries to invade Quan's palace but gets thrown in a soulnado by those two stoner oni we love, Drahmin and Moloch. Sub goes to help his friends with his new recruit, Frost. she has all his moves, all his powers, and creates her weapons the same way he does. why does hardly anyone complain? because she's hot. Rayden and co. tell him to meet them at the palace. he was going to, but Frost betrayed him and stole the lin kuei amulet. she didn't plan the next part quite as well, she foze up and died. Sub-Zero went to bury her and found a mountain full of dudes who had freezing powers like him and Frost. he found some armor there and POWER UP! his freezing powers were better.

mkd- it turns out that Quan's palace was built on top of a portal that only Li Mei's village knew about. Scorp found it and went through it before the souls ripped him apart. there he found the elder gods pis*ed because Shujinko just whacked their champion, Monster. so they slapped some new armor on Scorp and sent him to kick Shujinko's @$$ before he did the thing with the kamidogu. he failed. his new mission is to kill Onaga (AKA Reptile). Sub is trying to kill Onaga with his new armor. Noob and Smoke are going to kill anyone who gets in their way of making an army of robo demons.

Kahn tries sucking souls from there. he failed but did get Scorpion (HA HA). later Scorp tries to turn on Kahn but fails.

He didn't get scorpions soul, scorpion was just free from hell. Kahn failed at taking the souls of hell and just ended up freeing the souls there. Scorpions story and bio both say he's a wildcard. If anything, in that game he's just wandering around.

Apparently Kano-rulz you're wrong: Scorpion got back to kill Sub-Zero in MK1, but his family was still alive (mk1 Scorpion ending and bio) Quan Chi only told Scorp about his family's demise (they were killed before MK4) when Shinnok resurfaces in MK4. Only then does the ninja get info about his dead family, and only then he goes after Sub-Zero to take revenge.

(A) alot off stuff has been retconned since MK1 (i.e. Kano's nationality).
(B) it just makes sense to whack someones family immediately after they fail and not 5 years later.

i was just thinking that maybe sub zero from mk1 was a fake version of sub zero and no one knew what was going on
