Well this is bugging me for some time
I never saw the arcade version of MK4, only PSX, N64 and PC. None of the home versions reproduce exactly the Arcade.
Then it was released MK Gold. Only for Dreamcast (damn) well...
The game has better graphics than the other versions, but it is the Arcade? I am saying about graphics, sound, details...

They don't really look alike at all and it wasn't meant to be arcade perfect, they were trying to make the graphics better since the DC hardware was more advanced. The closest thing to MK4 arcade is the MK4 home versions.
I don't know the technical terms to describe it well but MK Gold's models have this shiny look to them, while MK4 arcade is grittier and more pixelated. Just look at pics or movies to compare and you'll see what I mean.
The sound is pretty much the same in all versions. Gold has the FMV endings from PSX/PC while arcade has the real time endings in N64.

The characters in MKG almost look like they are made out of Plastic. I imagine they were trying to flex the light effect muscles of the DC but the duller look of the arcade did look better IMO. The arcade did look a little pixely, I don't remember what resolution it ran at. MKG ran at 640x480 which was pretty high resolution for a console game (or for an arcade game for that matter) so on that side it was pretty nifty.

Funny
The Ending in the arcade version dont have subtitles like N64.
Another thing that I want to know if exists or not in Arcade
- Those flying lights in prison stage
- The outside view in prison stage
- The Ice Pit arena
- The Oni eyes in background of Goro's Lair
- Goro
- The Ending of Shinnok, how is the tunnel. It looks a little strange in home versions
- The Bio Screen - In game is a little CG. How is in the Arcade
Thanks again

The flying lights were specific to MK Gold, much like how they changed some of the boulders / skulls that can be thrown to spiked mines and something else I think...
MK: Gold > MK4 Arcade

More questions then
- Alternative costumes - are there in Arcade? Like Reptile classic look, Scorpion in grey, this thing
- It is possible to choose different weapons?
- How is the fatalities? More blood and pieces of body? In Dreamcast, the fatalities dont leave blood in the screen.
Thanks again.

Noob was in the early versions of MK4(as a normally playble character) but was replaced by Reiko near the end of development.
Some of the alt costumes are in, some are console exclusive. Like Sub-Zero has the unmasked outfit but the Reptile classic and Scorpion grey are console exclusive.
You cannot choose different weapons.
The fatals are pretty much the same except the blood hitting the screen looks so much better.

I liked Gold's graphics better than Mk4's but Mk4 was a little bit better in my oppinion. in the prison arena the huge fan, in MK4 after you threw them into the fan they exploded into a bunch of little piecs right? Then the head flies up and hits the screen leaving a blood splat on the screen. That was cool but in Mk Gold the blood splat wasnt there. That made me a little mad when that wasnt there when i got the game. But i also like the extra arenas they gave yo in Gold like The Ladder,The Church,Soul Chamber,etc... They were god games but i liked MK4 a tad better.
Anyanka man i know Noob was in the early versions.
Plus i asked u for some screenshots.Did u get my PM ?
I also would like to know if theres another rom for MK 4.I mean early version where Noob is in the game ;)))
Mods im not asking for the rom i just asking is there in existence ;()
