Hah these are awesome. I love the long vid of people play an early version of MK3. Its crazy how different things were. Ketchup, Mustard, Muchacha, some nice carpetting in the bank, Sheeva's popup only popping up like a foot, and it seems like everything sent you flying away in air, Kano's gotcha grab, Sektor's homing missile...

Great stuff, thanks for posting.

Awesome, I actually have the 3d video mentioned in the one clip.tongue
Ok.... what is the freaking point of the 600 MB Video Monster ????

You see some extremly boring MK3 fights, and who cares if there is a freaking red carpet or not?
Its boring, its pointless and its 600 MB.

Maybe a description of the content for the videos would be good for the next time.

I just want to inform the people who want to download the 600 MB Video, so dont take it as an offense.

If you just wanted to inform people you would have just said what the content of the video is instead of flaming.

Gruby: I always saw that at the local video store (where me and MK2KungBroken would go to play MK3 and UMK3) but never could build up the interest enough to rent it.

Its nothing that great, but fairly entertaining if you can get over the terrible 3d effects and voice acting.

Don't downplay the RED CARPET. All red carpet sightings are important.

This looks awesome! Very cool Kombat.

Can you also write what they are about so people will know what they want to download first? Which is better, etc.

Thanks for all this vids man. Really cool.

I finally got the two big daddy's to play, damn you MPEG-2 codec...

The media release is the best (and ]{, you know it's very useful to me alsowink) though a lot of the footage is the same as "Behind the Scenes" video you can find in MAT2.
It's like a video version of those poster advertisements Midway would send out to Arcade owners, trying to persuade them to put MK3 into their arcades.

There's lots of rare stuff in it though, like the original arcade MK3 commercial, studio footage from when they were mo-capping MK3, stuff like that.

The 600mb vid is all footage of shitty MK players (the fighting smacks of Boon) playing a beta / prototype version of MK3. There's a few interesting things, like the original carpeted Bank (why would they change that, it's even better than the MKT carpet?),

Sektor and Cyrax appearing as Mustard and Ketchup, and tons of gameplay alterations, along with weird, crappy sound effects that they thankfully changed.

The MK movie promo is a video aimed at video rental stores I believe. Kinda like the media release, it's trying to persuade them to stock the MK movie.
Some minor footage that must've been cut from the movie, but nothing shocking. Still worth the dl though, the 2nd best vid imo.

Anyways, good stuff ]{0MBAT, I love a good behind the scenes video.

The red carpet is the best MK carpet ever. It makes no sense to have a stone floor with a dragon logo in the middle in a bank. Seriously what is up with that? Who walks into a bank in America and sees a mystical asian looking symbol on the floor? Red carpet! NEVER FORGET.

It really makes no sense. I'd been told before that MK3 originally had red carpet so when I saw it in MKT I thought thats what they meant. Its crazy to see that they had an even better looking carpet in the originally.

I thought there were some interesting differences. There are some things I think they should have kept. Like stumbling back after getting kicked in the face. Breaking their blocking pose while getting hit hard looked cool also. makes it look more realistic like they are taking a beating. And I like how they fall also. more like mk2. I dont like that standing straight like a board and falling stuff in umk3. They never fixed that glitch where sub zero gets stuck in the uppercut pose when he uppercuts someone into a statue. If u do it with the other person in a corner, sub slides backwards in slow motion too. Who was playing? Some random testers or the creators? I remember a version were u attack the computer before the round had officially started. That video reminded me of a lot of things I had either forgotten or only saw once so I thought I had a bad memory.

Everything about The Bank is stupid. It looks nothing like any bank I've ever seen. It's this weird stone temple with glass walls. There's nothing remotely resembling a bank in it. I GUESS it's supposed to be the entrance and the counter and vault and other bank stuff is at the opposite end, in the foreground like past what the player is seeing. Just the whole idea of fighting in a bank is weird. Who fights in a bank?

Too bad the original concept of a crashed helicopter being stuck in the window wasn't used. That would have at least been cool looking. As it stands it's one of the most bland levels in any MK game.

It's a tragedy. It's such a shame so few of us appreciate the finer things in MK like that carpet. See it's not just a simple carpet. It's an important part of the MK mythos and atmosphere. The carpet and the bank is a metaphor for the entire MK3 story. The blood red carpet in a bank symbolizes the capolitistic, materialistic greed of modern American society and how we will pay for our arrogance. We get rich and fat with our SUVs and cell phones oblivious to the dangers and problems in other parts of the world(represented in MK3 by Shao Kahn and Outworld). We ignored the warnings and look at what happened. The bank and it's carpet is an indictment of America's greed and a chilling prediction of things to come. I have a feeling it was removed because the symbolism was too deep and thought provoking for a video game in 1995. We just weren't ready for it.

let's also not forgot it's older brother, the statues that used to be in the MK II Tower stage

Yeah...the carpet was cool....grin
Maybe I was a little bit to dissapointed because of a 600 MB Video that only shows 31 Minutes of MK3 Beta gameplay played from apes.

The Media Release Video is pretty ok, its funny how they called MK3 "biggest impact in videogamehistory" and stuff like that lol.

Is that picture with the graveyard initials of the red carpet true?

How could beta play possibly be good? The game wasn't even finished and probably existed in the state it was in for like a week at the time.
