I think it is. With the Run button and the ability to perform combos, I can honestly say Mortal Kombat is the only fighting game where you can get your ass kicked literally in five seconds if you're not careful.

Actually, there are some games that are faster. It's my favorite fighting game, but it's most definately not the fastest. Guilty Gear has my vote. I defeated my brother in 3 seconds once, and it was easy.

I honestly would vote MKT for PSX the fastest 2d fighter that I know. It seems considerably faster then any other 2D fighter I can think of. However, I think out of fighting games in general, VF4evo is actually the fastest and most intense fighting game ever.

There are a lot of faster games out there. I mean, MK3-MKT isn't the only fighter to have the ability to run and "the ability to perform combo." And then again, there are also games with really high damage. OMG KOF95 comes to mind. And "intense" is really subjective. MK3 for me at the arcades was actually far from intense. For me, all I experienced was Kabal vs Kabal turtle fest. But whatever.

Yeah so you have never experienced high level UMK3, or something close to it at the very least, I'll play you online sometime if you'd like.

I'm sorry, but high level and mk don't belong in the same sentence.

I am truly, TRULY, tired of people who don't know jack shit about UMK3 saying that there's no such thing as competitive play for the game.
You can play everything High Level, what,s "High Level" meaning?
There was a guy that chrashed a PacMan Machine by getting a impossible Highscore. He played PacMan "High Level". No one in the World can do it like that guy, so if you can play PacMan "High Level" you can play ever game "High Level".

MK1 was beside SF2 the most played fighting game in the World.
There was a "High Level" competition with that very basic gameplay of MK1.
So for MK2 or UMK3 there can be "High Level" without any problem too.

Simply gameplay doesnt mean its not "High Level" possible. See Quake3 ect.

Killer Miller is 100% correct.

Look at Super Mario 3, a kid at work told me he got from the store to Burger King and back on his break in under 5 minutes, he got every green light, his food was waiting for him at the window when got there, and no lights on the way back. He "Super Mario 3ed" it.

Also, what abotu Grandmaster Tetris? Need I say more?
