Hi there,

I just got back from a holiday in thailand and at a market on the beach they had MORTAL KOMBAT on NES.

I opened the box and confirmed it was a NES cartridge. It was PAL format.

The guy had a TV and let me demo the game.

The graphics were alright. Slight blur on motion spirits.

As for blood... it was there! And it was even more violent than aracde. When Kano pulled out the heart there was like twice as much blood.

I asked the guy at the market where he got it and he said his uncle got it from a warehouse.

Anyway... I bought it and it cost me $10 US.

I have it here and a guy down the street offered me $50 for it. I said no because I think its worth alot.

It also has a offical midway logo on the back.

I spoke to a local video game dealer in my area and he told me how they were going to be released on NES but recalled at the last minute. He had original NES artwork in his shop but wouldn't sell it to me.

He said its really rare and said he would swap the original NES artwork for the game. I said NO because my mum said not to give it away.

Anyway thats my story.

If anyone has any information or any cheats for MK on NES can you please reply. I am stuck on Goro.

Thanks

Toby.

Yes, keep that shit son. Perhaps someone on here can give you a value of the game. You might want to ask the mods to move this to the classic MK forum, and perhaps someone there can give you an idea of price and origin.

It's fake. The foreign market is flooded with fakes and bootlegs like this. They're not rare or a game that nearly came out and was recalled. It's just BS. You might find an American collector that doesn't know any better that would be want to pay something for it but other than that it's worthless. Cool novelty though.

There are many Pirate NES games, King of Fighters, Tekken and even Sonic.
Funniest thing Ive seen so far was a Super Mario Bros Hack where Mario was naked lol.

I love those 100 nes game packs they sell (illegally) at malls all over the place. They usually have games called Tekken, King of Fighters, Street Fighter, and they are usually godawful ancient NES fighters with a different (or sometimes even their normal) title screens.

Nintendo was fighting these things for a while. They were able to get a judge to block their import to a couple of states but not all yet. I guess they just aren't a big enough threat or they are too spread out to deal with.

Naked Mario? Wonder if you'll be able to download that to the Revolution.

Actually, I seem to remember a rumour that Acclaim had actually ported a version of MK1 for the NES, but it never got beyond the Alpha stage. I doubt the cart you have is official, but if it plays any better than those Hong Kong ripoff bootlegs....

MK1 for NES did actually come out. When MK1 hit the consoles, Courtland Center Mall in Flint, MI had it on sale. It was removed from store shelves less than two weeks later, though. I highly doubt it sold more than a copy or two.

ugh.....you mean the pirated NES garbage they used to sell.I say take a sledgehammer to it. It's worth nothing, and you are paying for a crap NES port that is made for no reason other than to cheat you of your money.

ugly, boring, unplayable and pointless... that's what summarize at its best the nes version of MK. if you're not convinced yet, just try it with the virtuanes emu (for example).
