posted05/28/2005 04:14 AM (UTC)byI made MK_rockbeat a few months ago...
I made WIP Tower (Rearranged) sometime last year
And the MK2 Ending Techno remix early last year (remember the thread I posted?)
http://www.geocities.com/kombattomb/kombatmedia
Songs are low quality for faster download.
Please copy + paste link. Right click song files to download. You may save them or open them in a media player.
Mortal Kombat Rock Beat is a MK1 Courtyard rock remix
Mortal Kombat II Tower (Rearranged) is the MK2 Tower (with techno beat)
Mortal Kombat II Ending (Techno remix) is mostly an original, using the concept of MK2's melody from the ending.
Please comment?

I wish to bring 3 points to your mind:
1) the percussions lack of power, and it sounds like you have picked exact riffs of a music program to put them in your song. it's always better to build your own riffs I think, you can have a better control on the final result so.
2) the sounds used for the melodies don't sound very professionnal to my ears, I mean they sound like midi sounds (maybe it's the case besides, I don't know )
3) there are no crescendo or decrescendo in your musics, all is played with the equal intensity...I think you should use some "backwards" or "classcrash" to put rises and to let know the listener when the "powerful" moments are coming..cause we don't feel any stronger moments in the song, we don't know where you want the listener to go in fact....
but don't give up, one just need to train to get better.
anyway a good point for you, for the effort put in this.

"and it sounds like you have picked exact riffs of a music program to put them in your song".
I don't know if you're trying to say I "rip" or "copy" sources of a song file to put in my music- My answer to that is no. I make music by ear. These songs I did from my mind, without even listening to the original. :]
"they sound like midi sounds"
I used General Soundfonts- a general midi soundset of all 127 basic instruments for the melodies. So yeah, it's sort of midi-sounding. And remember, these songs are low quality. The high-quality mp3s sound awesome.
"there are no crescendo or decrescendo in your musics"
I could've added cresendo and decrescendo effects to the melodies real fast, but I thought the music sounded good without that. ;]
Thanks for the review and comments. It'll help me to do a better job next time.

Don't get mad, it was just a test to see what reviews I would get on the songs. So far, one critical review which was all I needed.

Just head over to ](ombat's website, I have midis of the Balcony and The Bridge from MK3/Trilogy. I recommend a quality sound card to have the midis sound better.

Head to http://tabmok99.mk5.org and check out the midi section. I've done midi music of almost all the MK games for a lot of platforms. hope you enjoy and add any suggestions if you want. PM me.
