I will start off by say this.
This is not the arcade verison of UMK3 and its not a port of any other verison of the game. This is plane and simple a DS verison of UMK3.I thought right when I booted up the game that I was going to see the intro just like in the arcade but no they removed that. They also removed watching the computer play when you aren't,not a big deal I guess but thats not the point.Right when you boot up the game, you will get a screen that gives you an option to play UMK3 of Puzzle Kombat. You can either touch one or the other or move on the d-pad up and down and press A if you somehow loose the stick thingy.
Another thing I like the bring up is that I do not have a regular DS anymore.I have the ds lite which sucks for most people above the age of 19 cause we have bigger hands then kids.So for me that controls are really hard to deal with cause my fingers keep wanting to press other things on the DS and its hard to pull off moves. But when you do are able to,its fine but honestly its just reminds me of MKA on the GBA only cause of how small the buttons are.Maybe its a little mean but this isnt a good game to play on the DS lite.
So for sound and music, its all there.Anything you remember hearing you can hear just fine.Graphics, well I don't know.I know some people gave it the excuse, well its a smaller screen so the had to resize everything and the resolution.OK but I don't remember Super Mario 64DS having that same problem on the smaller screen, and everything on the game looked fine and didn't look like they changed much.So I don't know maybe they couldn't do it,maybe.Another thing that bothers me is that when you upercut someone to another arena the screen goes black just like in the SNES verison of this and when you lose in single player its the same thing,it goes black and then the things come down.Unlike in the arcade verison of UMK3.
So a few more things,Puzzle Kombat, its the same from Deception other then their fighting on different screens then what you are actually playing on.Makes you wonder and think if they could ever actually port MKD or MKA to the DS,just a thought.I know they removed bios automaticly coming on the screen but what they had that no other verison of this game was all bios for every fighter besides Ermac, mileena, classic subzero. If you remember,in umk3 for the arcade you only saw the 4 new bios and that was it.I don't remember if SNES and SEGA GENESIS have all the bios on there and they might but I just don't recall it right now.
I am not going to go into multiplayer cause it sucks, theres lag and people can quit without u getting the win and they will not get the lost either. So all in all this game is a hit somewhere and a miss in others.I give it a 6/10 or a C.

This is an emulated arcade version of UMK3's orginal hardware, with some modifications here and there to fit the DS format. They removed things to make it look like a ported version of the game. They didn't recode the gameplay or anything, they just modified the interface etc, and put in some DS exclusive things like tapping the screen for unlocking characters. The speed is faster than the arcade but that is often a result of emulation. It's not a new game, you sound like Total-MK.
