If this is not the correct section I'm posting this in, I apologize in advance due to not being fully sure which section is the right one to post in.

Anyway, there have been a lot of MK characters so far. However, there are some whose origins we don't know about.

I'm still puzzled about characters like Shang Tsung and Quan Chi as well as Reiko.

It's known by some that Shang Tsung has a demon form which is supposedly his true form. There has been some speculation that Shang Tsung is actually a Tarkatan. I was wondering if there has been any official word on Shang Tsung's origins and such.

The same can be said for Quan Chi. He looks very unique and is a very mysterious person. However, MK: D's Konquest, which I know isn't fully canon, has a part in the Netherrealm in which you talk to one of the Oni outside of the city. This particular Oni states he knew Quan Chi before Quan Chi became a sorcerer and that Quan Chi was not that much different from him. So is Quan Chi really an Oni? Is he truly a native of the Netherrealm? I would kind of think so. I was wondering if that's official or not.

And then there's Reiko, a character that some people like such as myself, and a character that other people don't like that much or at all. He looks rather humanish though he could be like Sareena in that he has a true form of a demon thus being from the Netherrealm. Then again, I have a strange feeling that he is more likely from Outworld, especially with his relatively ambigious connection to Shao Kahn.

Well, that's all I have to say for now. I would really like to hear some great input on this and hopefully, I can find some good answers.

i dont really pay attention to the story lines, but i know reiko is not from earth, because he walks into a weird ass portal and disappears when you beat mk4.

Well, I think it's rather obvious that he's not from Earthrealm, because Reiko has been around for much longer than a human could possibly live unless he is a human but not like other humans.

Wasn't Reiko said to be Shao Kahn in his ending in 2 platform games but you see him talking to Kahn in one of the movies? That's what puzzles me about him.

No. Reiko is not Shao Kahn. He only put Shao Kahn's mask on in the Playstation version's ending.
And the movies/TV shows are not part of the story.

I think Reiko is a Demon in a human form like Sareena, Kia and Jataaka. You can see he shares similar traits that they do like the black marks on his face and the black and white hair.
I don't think he was born a Demon though, which is how he once served Shao Kahn. So in that case, I guess he'd be an Outworlder who was turned into a Demon.

They used to call Shang Tsung a Demon and I remember there was a picture of his "true form." I remember, I think on the MK: Mythologies website, they said Tsung was created on Earth, but banished to Outworld which is where he learned to steal souls and started serving Shao Kahn.

I don't know where Quan Chi comes from. It's said on a plot FAQ that he was once an Oni, but on Quan Chi's Deception card Vogel says "we don't really know where Quan Chi comes from." So I guess for now it's still a mystery.

I'd like to see Quan Chi's origins exlpored in the future. Shao Kahn's too, especially now that they've revealled he was once like Raiden.

I didn't notice this thread had some new posts. Good thing it's still up on the first page.

You may be right about Reiko...hmm...I really hope they'll bring him back...

Regarding Shang Tsung, if what you're saying is true about Shang Tsung being from Earth and being banished to Outworld and learning to steal souls for Kahn, does this mean that the MK1 comic's info on the origins of Shang Tsung's soul stealing powers is now outdated?

As for Quan Chi, well, I did come across the Oni who said he knew Quan Chi before Quan became a sorcerer. Maybe Vogel didn't want to give away Quan Chi's origins in the video.

Can anyone post the info for Quan Chi's bio for MKD along with the other stuff? Or better yet, are there any links to Quan Chi's bio vid? Either one would satisfy me enough.
I HEARED AND BELIEVE SHANG TSUNG WAS BORN ON EARTH AND ACIDENTALY STUMBELED INTO outworld. where he did something and was cursed to consume souls in order to live. He was forced to join shao
kahn so he could get souls.thats all I know . hit me back if you know anything on that.grin
