When something better than UMK3 comes out, I'll let you all know, because it still hasn't happened yet.

This is probably the 3rd or 4th time this topic has come up and there is still no confirmation.

As far as we know, they are using the rom data from the arcade games, if that is so, then none of the games individually will take up more ram than is available, MK3 is 23 megs, MK2 is 18 megs, and MK1 is about 8 megs. I believe all current systems have at least 32 megs of ram. Even if they have load an emulator of sorts to run the games, they will still have enough room to load the games in their entirety, so all data will be retrieved from RAM, not loaded on the fly, thus there being no load time for anything, let alone morphs.

Through emulation, I see no other way to play the games. Something like UMK3 they might have to cut corners, like not loading the ending pictures until you win etc, so they could load the entire important part of the game at the start since it's exactly 32 megs. I'm not sure what else they could do, perhaps they haven't figured that out yet and that's why they didn't release every arcade MK on this MAT, it's either that, or they want to make more money on yet another next year.

ah, that might explain why theres no UMK3... they should just port the saturn version for UMK3 & just pre load only all of the fighter sprites into memory, and not the rest of the stuff.. i remember you could get a hack for MK3 DOS that would load all the characters into memory so that shang tsung's morphs would be instant....
