I doubt it. Scorpion belongs to the the Shirai Ryu clan or something like that and Smoke belonged to the Lin Kuei. These two clans, being arch enemies, i am doubting that Smoke and Scorpion have anything to do with being related.

However the fact that Smoke uses the spear and almost all of Scorpion's moves kinda pisses me off. They needed to elaborate on Smoke's own kinda of moves rather than a copy of Scorpion after Mk2. I would like to know what the story is behind Smoke's spear use, i thought the Lin Kuei was an ice powered clan.

I believe what they done was in MK2 they used the old Reptile idea and combined the mk2 ninjas into one. Smoke is made up of Reptile's fighting stance, Sub-Zero's winning pose, and Scorpion's spear move. I guess when they decided to make his human form playable they just didnt feel like re-making him. Not the only time midway has been to lazy to throw in a few extras on an mk game.

no. yes in MK2 Smoke has scorpion's moves but thats cuz secret characters back then (and actually still) didnt have moves of their own. like Reptile the secret char in MK1 has Sub-Zero's and Scorpion's moves. is he related to them? no. not even the same race. Noob Saibot in MK2 also had Scorpion's moves i believe.

just cuz a character has the same move as another doesnt mean they r related or have any thing to do with each other. cyber Smoke in MK3-MKT has this hook move wich is basically the spear move. but he has always had other ppls moves and none of his own until MKD.

plus Smoke and Scorpion r members of rival clans. Smoke was a member of the Lin Kuei and Scorpion was a member of their rival clan (cant remember name).

I Know about the clans/groups, they could of ben like kitana & mileena......

Do U think Midway at least had a Idea of them being brothers, but decided
not to in the middle of MK2... Its probley why they turned smoke into robot,
they were probley to lazy to give smoke his own moves after deciding not to make scorpion & Smoke Brothers.

I just thought I'd point out that Smoke finally does have his own moves. He's had his own fatalities since MK3, and MKT.

Also, if Smoke really was Scorpion's brother, then he'd be dead before even MK1, because Scorpion's clan AND family was wiped out by Quan Chi after Scorpion initially died. So if Smoke was related to Scorpion in any way, Quan Chi would not have hesitated to kill Smoke, even though he was in the Shirai Ryu's rival clan, the Lin Kuei.

I'd also like to point out that Noob Saibot also had Scorpion's spear in MK2. At first, I thought he had something to do with Scorpion, like, a member of his old ninja clan or something. I was proven wrong in MKT, when it says he's from the Netherrealm. I thought I was right for the longest time when it was revealed that his home, the Netherrealm, was just a fancy name for Hell, where Scorpion was reborn. Now in MKD, we find out that Noob Saibot was not originally from the Netherrealm, and before descending to the Netherrealm, he was murdered by Scorpion in MK1. Not only that, but we find out that he was Scorpion's murderer, himself!
