I was wondering. The 'Great' Kung Lao died in Mortal Kombat about 500 years ago at the hands of Goro, a student of Shang Tsung. So my questions are:

1. Did Shang Tsung absorb/enslave Kung Lao's soul, was it protected like the choosen in MK3, or he just didn't get the chance?

2. If Shang did absorb/enslave Kung Lao's soul was it released at the end of the Mortal Kombat Tournament that Liu Kang won in the first game or was it too far gone after being enslaved for 500yrs?

3. If Kung Lao's soul was released did it go to a happy, well deserved afterlife or did it re-animate in the modern Kung Lao just in time for MK2? (ala Johnny Cage)

I was trying to get some 'facts' together for another fan fiction and these points kept bothering me.

1. Kung Lao's soul was taken by Shang Tsung after his death by Goro. Kung Lao's knowledge on the Shaolin Temple was passed to Shang Tsung and that is when he took control of the tournament.

2. Well it is very possible that Kung Lao's soul was released from Shang Tsung's body after Liu Kang beat Shang Tsung in the 10th Mortal Kombat. If not then Liu Kang's soul would have been trapped in Shang Tsung's body with Kung Lao.

3. I think if Kung Lao's soul was free he would travel to the after life because he knows that Liu Kang and the Shaolin Temple is very capable of defending Earthrealm and he would not be needed. If he was re-animated we may see him further in the future and possibly in Shaolin Monks.
