rain and noob are playable in the home version of the game from back in the day (snes and sega) however the arcade version (witch is what UMK is ment to be) did not have noob as a playable charicter and rain was only in the attraction mode to make people spend more money to find him. . . but he is not actualy in the game.

Uhhhh. I envy you guys. I have had the game since it came out and I have beaten it only twice!!! I guess that makes me the real noob.
I know there are some games your just not good at, but I am pretty good at this one. I do know of a pattern to beat some of the characters though. I only played this through novice so far, so understand that I am working my way up to be better.
Cheats wise: AI is pretty, well, simple. To a point.
For the 1st 2 matches their pretty easy, just use a character that fits how you play. For those that are fast button pressers, use someone like Scorpion, or Sub-Zero. Here you can get some pretty good combos.
If you lose the 3rd match, the 4th gets easier (I noted this through fighting Liu Kang, Sindel, and Sheeva).
But here is where I am lost. The 4th match, I have to wait until I get to the streets (If I uppercut at the Subway and send him into the streets, it doesn't work). The 5th match, well, that depends on the fighter. I can't get past Jade, but Kabal, and others like that in the 5th match of Novice. It all just depends on the fighter.
Endurance, well, I have to wait until the rooftops. Motaro, I am still no good at unless I use Kitana. Shao Kahn I can't beat unless I use Sub-Zero.
Yeah I guess I need help to...

Just to let everyone know, if you backflip and kick in the air, the AI will perform their projectile attack. Ex. Scorpion shoots his spear, Kitana throws her fan, etc. This would, assuming you choose someone with a teleport uppercut like Sektor or Smoke, leave the computer open to combos. Try it. You can breeze through the ladder and even endurance rounds like nothing.
As for Motaro, its possible to beat him with combos, but extremely difficult. There is a glitch on the DS system, where if you get your opponent in the corner, just keep punching them. They cannot and will not block. Basically 100% combos would be possible. Though it won't be easy to get him in the corner, if you can manage to do so, it'll be much easier to win than doing the normal combos.
Shao Kahn can be beaten in the same way. But I prefer to use Smoke or Sektor. This is the only fight where they can perform a double teleport uppercut. You just have to know when to use it, such as when he fires his projectile towards you or taunts you.
Anyways. Yeah. Happy playing.

I did finally manage to find a character that will beat Motaro without the use of run. Classic Sub-Zero has a 4 hit punch combo that if you jump forward at him into a punch, you can make a 5 hit combo doing about 21% damage.
I also managed to beat Shao Kahn now, with Human Smoke, Sub-Zero, Classic Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reptile, Smoke and Kung Lao. I have also managed to unlock the bonus matches against Noob and Ermac. But I want to know now if it is possible to perform a "Crispy"? I know the speculations are you have to perform a stage fatality at Scorpion's lair, but I have tried to press and hold Run and High Punch and can't get it. Is this because it only works on the arcade machine, or can it be done with another combo?
