Now, I'm not saying this game rocks titties or anything but, why does everyone hate MK4 so much? I think it kicks ass. Kinda cheesy, but I love it. Way better than MK3 IMO. but whatever, thats just me. Just curious on what everyone thinks

MK4 is a GREAT game, I loved it.
I think the main problem was at the time, 3d fighting games were IMPOVEING. The timeing and eveything I think. I mean not to compare games of differnt times, But tekken and MK4 are like so far apart in looks.
I enjoy the game, nice to see Goro get brought back.
And loved Cage. Again I dont relly know why people dish it like they did. Maybe the grapics compare to other 3d fighting games of the time, but that should be about it. It is a fun game to play in its own right.
And MK3 rules. I think MK3 was the better game over all,

MK3 is the better game when compare to MK4.
Not the better game of the series, thats a toss up between MK1, or MK2 or maybe MKDA.

I know why I hate MK4. Its gameplay is terrible. UMK3 has the highest quality gameplay of any MK game, the only tourny worthy MK game in existance. MK4 has so much repetition of motion captures, combos, and they totally ditched balancing characters in favor of having a crapy max damage system. IMO MK4 was the begining of the end for MK gameplay.
MK1, MK2, MK3, and UMK3 progressed along a path as far as gameplay is concerned. Each one built on the previous, balancing and tweaking gameplay to get it to a higher level. Then, MK4 focused on graphics (which were nice for about 5 minutes) and the gameplay took a back seat. Since then the other MK games have focused so much on fan service that they too have terrible, broken, underdeveloped gameplay. It is truly a shame.

Well that, my friend is a truely adept opinion. I can totally see where MK4 lacks in gameplay. But storywise, I believe that MK4 rocks over MK3. But that is only because I am in love with the MK story and love Japanese mythology and stuff. Not a big fan of cheesy science fiction stuff with robots and i guess it was Sektor, cyrax and stryker that killed MK3 for me.
I am also a fan of realism, so when Jax grows 50 feet tall and crushes his opponent in MK3 i was turned off. However when he tears out their arms in MK4 (and MK2) it sells me, even though that isn't so realistic either, but you get my drift. I don't know. I could babble on and on about MK and shit.

I liked MK4, and as a result I got MKG (and a DC to play it on - which was well worth it since they are practicaly giving them away these days).
MKG is far better than MK4 (PSX), so I'm pleased that I got MKG.
However, as I've mentioned many times on these forums, for me it is only a great game in one circumstance - playing against a friend (who isn't very good) in "Practice" Mode, where there are no lifebars, clock etc.
In this very limited situation, MK4 is a VERY fun game (MKG even more so...)
BUT if you, or you and your friends don't just play Practice Mode, or you wanna play at a high level, then it's a shitty game...
Since I'm a fan of the aesthetics of MK, I also appreciate the cool storyline (nicely introduced and developed by MKM:SZ), the return to generally non-comical fatalities, the dark aura, the dark music and sick stages...but really this doesn't sustain interest in the game.
So, although I am a fan of MK4/G, it's only cus I have a specific situation that most ppl don't have when concerning this game -- and if my friend and I didn't play practice mode, for me MK4/G would be collecting dust along with MKDA and MKD...

MK4 just seemed to cartoonish for me the new characters where horrible and cheesy the fighting engine was a joke.I said this a million times in the past but ill say it again mk going 3-d was a huge mistake. It has lost all its originality and now is just another 3-d fighting game if they stayed 2-d i believe they wouldnt of alienated alot of its fans plus the cheesy movies and cartoons didnt help it.Mk4 to me was the ending of a great game series but i hope they prove me wrong in the future cause the mk games that are out today suck bad.

All that needs to be said is, "MK4 was a terrible game in every respect."
Then what needs to be understood is, "MK4 was a terrible game in every respect."
Then...an abstract concept that needs to be toiled with is, "There is no other MK game besides UMK3."

reiko/noobsaibot were really cool in MK4/G, whereas Noob was insanely cheap in MKT. thats why i like my dreamcast so much, besides the ever present glitches... i guess.

if any1 doesnt like mk4 they can shove it up their ass
or maybe someone showes a "banned" insignia up "Your" ass.
I dislike MK4, it lacked in storyline, character design, gameplay, visuals, audio, finishing moves and in Sub-Boss terms it was pretty weak. The only thing what was good was the pace, what however got too annoying after several half hours.
