Some MKT questions.

I only have the N64 version of MKT, but I want some older characters, like MK Kano and Raiden, but they're only on the PSX version. Thing is, I won't get the PSX version unless it's worth it. Is there more music (classic MK tunes to the right stages IE: The Pit II, Portal, Living Forest) or is it just all MK3/UMK3 music? Are the loading times horrible? And one more question about UMK3/MKT. Is it me or is the AI extremely hard and cheap at times? Example : Jade.

Yes make sure you get the greatest hits version of MKT for PSX, it's awesome. It has some MK1 stages (no MK1 musics however) I think all the MK2 stages, maybe a couple are missing, and all the MK2 musics to go along with it. The gameplay is about 99% accurate to arcade UMK3 if you can deal with it being faster and discount that as a difference because everything is faster and to me, that doesn't change the rules of the game because anything that happens faster can be blocked, avoided or countered with equal speed increase. Changing properties on specific moves like in N64 is weak.
The loading time is another story. It's not that bad, there are things you can do to speed it up as well in the options. Also if you're playing PS2 it tends to freeze which is annoying.
Jade is as easy to beat as any other character in the game using all the various exploits.

there is no Pit 2 pit fatality
when you beat Shao Kahn when playing on the PS2 the game will freeze up(this is the only thing that i found that freezes up)
Khameleon is not in this game but Chameleon is(male ninja version of Khameleon basically)
all the bosses are selectable in the begining
goro and kintaro are in it
no fatalites for Shao Kahn or Motaro
Human Smoke is already unlocked
there is an unmasked Sub-Zero and a masked Sub-Zero
Rain stands in Scorpion's stance instead of Reptile's
there is no endurance tower
classic versions of Raiden, Jax, Kung Lao, and Kano
there isn't the uppercut the opponent to get to a different arena between goro's lair, the armory, and that one level in MK2(i forgot)
there isn't the 3 exclusive stages in the N64 version in the PSX version
that should be it from all i remember

Also the Bank is in MKT for PSX and it's missing from the N64 version.

I always see this game at Best Buy for just $9.99.
Heck, even as just an MK music CD it would be worth the price (it has CD audio tracks for every song in the game).
Buy it!

Yeah Greatest Hits MKT is still (I believe) the best console MK yet. Tons of characters, tons of backgrounds, lots of fun and overall, pretty tight gameplay. N64 really lacks in the graphics, character selection, sound quality, and gameplay aspects, so I would have to encourage you to go out and get GH MKT.

Yes, it is indeed a great MK game, but be prepared for _the_ cheapest AI ever. Of course, i'm sure the N64 version has the same feature so this should come as no suprise but just in case as I have the PSX version. 2 player is a blast though, and yes, there are more selectable characters, including Goro, Kintaro, Motaro, and Shao Khan, among the other classic characters.

For me, the only setback with GH MKT is that I have been spoiled by the PC version. No loading times, unrestricted Shang morphing... it's beautiful! As I understand it though, the PC version is slightly less "fixed" in regards to gravity and things of that nature. I'm tempted to buy the GH MKT, in addition to my non-GH copy AND pc version... but I think I'd just find it too frustrating to deal with all the loading at this point.
I'm so spoiled as it is... one click on my computer screen and I'm there, with a dual arcade stick hooked up and everything. I could get the GH version but I feel like I'd never play it since I have the PC version handy. Oh well.
But if ALL you have is the N64 version, then you have no excuse. GH PS1 version absolutely stomps the N64 cartridge. And besides the gameplay... if you've only been hearing the sounds on an N64 all these years, then your ears are in for a treat. Get it!

Bustuppa, get the PSX version and find EPSXE, you can eliminate loading times with throttle, but not during Shang's morphs still unfortunately, if Shang is that important to you then I don't know what to tell you.
As for the AI, it's a joke, it's not difficult, there's easy ways to beat each and every character in the game. The N64 version pretty much has it's own AI as it's almost nothing like UMK3, it's more like a mix between UMK3 and MK3, it's just very dumb.

Cool, what I'll do is try that EPSXE with my non-GH MKT. If I'm satisfied with the way it runs on my comp, I'll go ahead and pick up a GH copy... there's a local place where I can get one really cheap. Greatest Hits, silver disc version - that is basically guaranteed to be the fixed one, right?Bustuppa, get the PSX version and find EPSXE, you can eliminate loading times with throttle, but not during Shang's morphs still unfortunately, if Shang is that important to you then I don't know what to tell you.

It is possible you have the middle version as well. I have an orange label one that plays exactly like the Greatest Hits version, but I believe there are some fixes here and there with freezing and glitches on the GH. Someone once said there are 4 versions of MKT for PSX but I have only played 3 and do not know where the missing version falls chronologically. Whatever the case may be, get GH.
