Am I right in the belief that the Sub-zero from MK1 was the only character to die in the orginal MK tournament????

Classic Sub-Zero defeated the elemental gods, and Scorpion was able to kill him. What the hell? Everyone comes back except Classic Sub-Zero, and it pisses me off.

I think he's still alive. I hope so. He was not the only character who died in the first tournament. Goro also died as well. He was probably brought back to life by Shinnok in MK4 or something like that.

Actually Goro was thought to have been dead but was only beaten. He'd taken off somewhere in hiding in Outworld.

Im not obsessed with classic sub-zero, it just seems odd that with all the death in MK, he was the only guy to die out of the original combatants.

-QuanChi-, it does matter to me who is behind the mask. I'd rather have an evil assassin than just anyone coming on MK wearing a blue suit. You see, I buy books due to their content. You obviously buy them due to their flashy pictures, like a child would.

if Mk1 Sub Zero had really died in MK1, then why did Scorpion came back in MK2?

Scorpion came back in MK2 believing that Sub-Zero was still alive and not knowing that the Sub-Zero in MK2 was actually the younger brother of the original Sub-Zero from MK1.

And yes, Sub-Zero was the only one to die from the first one. I see your point though, it is quite strange that everyone but Sub-Zero lived :).

OH MY! all this time I thought that I was playing as subzero, but I'm really playing as his little brother! someone should bring the REAL sub-zero back to life or something! this makes me mad, does this mean that the MK4 subzero is not the MK1 subzero? maybe I should sit down and think...
yeah... I should do that.

well quan chi, he does have a point... the story line is what really makes the fan base for mk... not just the gore and flash... I've noticed that in the past 4 or 5 posts that ive read, all you do is sit and flame, bad mouth, and bitch about things... do us all a favor and grow up bud.grin

But to the original topic, I kind of like the idea of his brither coming i as a good guy and then reforming the lin kuei and what not.

Yeah, I liked the younger borther stepping up, and even Scorpion protecting him.

Overall I thought it was strange at the lack of death overall. But, I also know I like the characters they put into the games and if they had to not kill people to keep them, then what the heck.

Also, keep in mind that the whole defeating of the elemental gods and everything hadn't been considered in teh story when MK1 came out. I personally think they just watched Big Trouble in Little China and tried to come up with crazy stuff like that.

im not even going to touch upon your little 'grow up' comments, cause from where im sitting, people on here realy need to learn how to have CONSTRUCTIVE DISAGREEMENT aka ARGUMENT (which yall make out to be a horrible thing) .....but...

....what is so cool about the OG sub-zero?? i really want to know, it wasnt sarcasm. to me, hes just a chump and the sub-zero that was in mkii is much better.

as for your comment about big trouble in little china....its on point. mk was a straight JACK from movies....i mean...

the tournament on an island - enter the dragon...also liu kang = bruce lee

johny cage - jean claude van damme (they actually wanted him to be in the game and be the focus of ot)

raiden - electric wind dude from big trouble....(very obvious)

shang tsung - david lo pan (big trouble) almost like a combonation of his older form with his younger

kano - terminator (very blatant)

thank god they strayed away from this path for future mk games and created an unbelievable storyline and excellent characters

My therory is that the original Sub-Zero may have faked his death or could have been killed. If he was still alive he could have discuised himself so well to make others believe he was the younger Sub-Zero. But if he had went to the Neatherealm and came back via Scorpion style and wanted to come back for Scorpion it makes sense. Since they were originally going to put the Classic Sub Zero in MK4. Hence the Classic outfit. Think about change some words in MK4's storyline and you can fit him in perfectly...

i just hope he is in hell, battleing the many demons quan chi makes him fight

just waiting to return to earth and fuck people up

the way it should end

sub-zero and scorpion have to save the world, if they can work together that is

those are the 2 best characters
they both hate quan chi
quan chi really hates them

and it will all be worth it, just to hear quan chi say these lines

"ugh, i really hate ninjas"
"god damnit, don't you 2 ever stay dead?"

I can see there are people here who thought about the storyline a great deal, but here is what "actually" happened according to the MKII comic:

Scorpion killed Sub-Zero in MK1 with his Toasty Fatality, then burst into ashes. Raiden saw the whole thing go down.

That MK Plot FAQ that was referenced here earlier has it exactly right.

Yeah that's right. Scorpion killed the elder Sub-Zero in MK1. Then, the younger brother became the next Sub-Zero and it has been this Sub-Zero in all the MK games since and including MK2. Scorpion didn't know that this new Sub-Zero is the younger brother until MK4. Keep in mind that the endings from all the MK games are all "what if" endings meaning that not all of them necessarily happened. The lin kuei was disbanded but Sub-Zero has re-started it as Grandmaster. I think it's a cool story and I reckon that they will have Sub-Zero as the new MK champion in the next game.

I remember reading an article somewhere that Ed Boon and John Tobias admitted that they took the idea of Rayden from Big Trouble in Little China.

if im not mistaken and i dont think i m the 1st sub zero does return in ultimate MK 3 and MK trilogy remember u can pik to subs he wears the ninja stuff and what not and the unmasked sub was the younger sub. So there is still a slim chance he might return!
