The arcade original can't be matched, it was so original and vicious. But I admit the gameplay was one up'd by MK2 and especially MK3, but the fact still remains the original has the best stages and character looks, not to mention the feel of the game which was never fully replicated.

PS. The original pit stage is enough to close this case.

I know where you're coming from Rayden86, I feel the same way about UMK3, none of the other MK games can match it's solidness as a game on the whole.

4o Mk1/Mk4

For me its MK2. I did like UMK3, but not as much as MK2. The only thing that was better was combos.

seriously though, I have a tough time choosing between mk2 and umk3. they're both waaaaay too addictive.

I think I'd have to go with MK2 r2.1 simply for the fun of death punch combos and the babality glitches.

best with out a doubt is MKT. my fav is MK2 tho.

If MKT counts, that's my pick, but otherwise, UMK 3 for sure.

well for me i would say overall i liked MK3 the best (primarily cause u can abuse kabals "10-hit 68% damage" combo against the CPU, dont work on regular people though) atleast in terms of single player... but for multiplayer wise i would choose UMK3... although i would say MK3 is pretty close.

MK2 was pretty good to and MK1 was pretty good... like i say i liked pretty much all the old school 2D MK's.

sound wise i liked MK2 the best :) it has the best screams and yells to date... mk3/umk3 was probably fairly close second but MK2 is definately the best... the bridge in MK2 is probably one of the best ever... the "scream" sound makes it ;)

it's all about arcade perfect versions (aka MAME versions) so trilogy i dont really count... although i played it alot back in the day. MK4 is probably the worst MK game todate... i dont even count it as a "old school" MK game... it's sorta like a wannabe deadly alliance/deception.

Pretty much with Kabal in MK3 vs the CPU, you don't even need to use that combo over and over, you only need one combo per match to win. Just lure the computer to the corner and do the following:

without a doubt, MK2 is the best. It was innovative for its time, the game play was great, it wasnt rushed, the animations were cool, and it was more fun to play without being complicated like with MK3's Run, MK4's 3D, and the newer MK's different fighting styles. OVer all, it was just fun to play and kick someones a**. I would have chose MKT, but that piece of crap doesnt compare to MK2
