Today, I'm going to play MK1 with my cousin Devron, and as far as I know, he is the best in all fighting games in Delaware. So what's the best thing I should know in MK1?

If someone tells you that the sweep repetition is stupid and that that doesn't make you a good player....look them right in the eye and say:

I'll take your advice put it probly wont help. I remember playing him in Marvel Vs Capcom 2, and he would whoop on me for hours on end. And one time while we were playing, I said, "I bet you cant hold up to me in Mortal Kombat." He simply replied with, "I'm better in that than I am in this" and he gave me one of those death glares.

BASIC COMBOS

Liu Kang: by hitting your opponent with a late jump kick you can follow-up with a ''Flying Kick'' if you're fast.

Sub-Zero: quickly doing a ''Sub Sweep'' after every jump kick or uppercut can result in an easy win.

Scorpion: by hitting your opponent with a late jump kick you can follow-up with a ''Harpoon Throw'' if you're fast, and lead into another devastating move such as an uppercut.

Johnny Cage: hitting your opponent with a jumping punch opens them up to many counter attacks.

Kano: by hitting your opponent with a late jump kick, you can follow-up with a ''Cannonball'' if you're quick.

Ill tell you every thing I know bout Sonya.

Leg Grab: Her leg grab is hard to excecute so don't rely on that but if you manage to get him, even once, it really helps your chance of improving.

Pink Rings: Her Pink Rings are very effective. Its easy to use and hard to evade so hell most likely block.

Square Wave Punch: Her best move in MK1. If he tries to use an ariel attack then you couldn't have asked for a greater move. Its impossible to block it but its impossible to use it when they're standing but its your best offense if he like to use ariel offensces.

Fatality: Okay, its not a strategy, but its kool. F+F+B+B+Blk.

If you freeze with Sub...there's a nice little glitch that you can use. Walk up to him (frozen) and throw him, then immediately freeze again. It is escapable, but if he just tries to block it, it won't work and you'll freeze him again.

This strategy works for Sonya also, but is harder to execute. Leg Grab (easy, not hard like above guy said lol), walk forward a little and do it again. Timing is critical and you have to be fast. There is no escape from this infinite if you do it right.

Ninjas are easy to punch out of the air. Just try to punch his back leg (not the kicking one heh) then do the move of choice...like sonya's leg grab to infinite or scorp's spear/uppercut, cage jump punch/shadow kick, etc...

MK1 is a block and counter game, if you block something that is NOT Sonya's sweep tongue, you can get a free hit (shadow kick, spear, freeze...) if you are fast enough.

But even with all of this knowledge, it can't help you unless you practice it.

Who said it wasn't? That combo is very hard to set up in MK1. I usually do it from an anti air HP.

I thought Sub-zero's freeze glitch works on anyone at anytime if they are getting up holding block? Is it just easier to time off a throw?

If you play against an experienced player (wich I think that guy in the start post must be)
the Freeze throw glitch is nearly useless because you can block a throw attemp by holding back/downback even when frozen.

First of get a use of everyones anti air capability,s like the ninjas roundhouse or simple high kick or the crouching kick from kano ect.

Then you have to know that if you block someones attack its important that you dont hold the block for too long, block then immediatly release and punish.
