I don't know how, but I had never heard of Mortal
Kombat until I was about 10, and my friend at
school said to me,
"I bet you couldn't face the gore in Mortal Kombat II".
And when I played it on his Megadrive, I got the
krap beaten outta me and had all sorts of fatalities
performed on my sorry a**. I was like,
"Woooooaaaaahhhhhh....! That IS kool!
So I got myself Mk1 for my Amiga 500 (my parents thought it was disgusting, but hey- didn't they all?)
and if I challenge my friend to MK these days-
I KICK HIS A**
Now that's a beautiful game smile

First time I played an MK game was MK1 at a Laundry Mat by me, I remember hearing about the game and decided to play it. I couldn't beat Sonya, who was the second character so I got angry, gave up, and didn't like MK1 for a long time lol. I was...what 11? Yeah I think 11. I didn't play it again til it came out for Genesis and SNES, I played it on Genesis first at this guy's house and thought it was horrible. Some of things were cool like the fatalities and stuff, but I just simply hate the way most Genesis stuff looks, like the "Code" screen on MK1 and the sound of the music playing. Put it this way, Genesis's graphics are like the visual representation of finger nails on a chalk board, as goes for the sound, being just the same. I rented it for SNES, was disappointed with no blood, I thought you could turn it on with Game Genie, which I had, or at least turn the shit red, but I got over that quickly and learned to enjoy it.

Time went by and MK2 came along and I talked about the first time seeing MK2 in an arcade in another thread, in any event, the Pit II Fatality on Jax hooked me.

The first time I played MK3 was at a boardwalk and no one was playing it. No one was even there looking at it lol. It wasn't a very popular boardwalk for video games, after all the locals of the town it's in aren't of the highest mental capacity, DreemerNJ knows what town I'm talking about. So I played a little bit, tried Kano's and Nightwolf's Fatalities, but I was doing the ones for the first version, and I didn't realize I was not playing the first version. I got fed up with no one to play against so I went and played Super Street Fighter 2 for a while and almost beat it, then I left.

I played UMK3 for the first time at the Freehold Mall in NJ and again I mentioned this in another thread, I beat a bunch of people and never lost, it was a good experience, blah blah bleh.

And last and certainly least, the first time I played MKun4tunate was at some mall in NJ I can't even remember the name of. It's a barren place that no one was going to years ago, I don't know why my friends liked it. They had a small arcade off to the side, and my friends went and played some team play shooting games, and I saw MK4, so I was like "Aww snap". No actually I didn't say that. I just went over, put in my quarters, hit start, listened to the selection screen music cause I was curious to hear what they did with it, I thought it was pretty cool, but it looped way too quickly, like 5 seconds tops, pretty dumb. I picked Raiden, chose double master, played and beat like 7 characters before losing. I immediately picked up on things that were just out and out wrong about that game in general. As I was on the last character I played against my friends came over and were like "So this is MK4?" and I said something like "Unfortunately." "What it's no good?" "That would be an understatement." Literally minutes of game time was all it took to prove to me that they produced a shitty ass game and slapped the label "Mortal Kombat 4" on it. Mortal Kombat 4get About Having Fun is more like it.

Played MK1 in my local arcade(TimeOut) for the very first time after seeing alot of teenagers playing it and killing their opponents.

I was about 9 and the teens there were all cursing and having a blast, I was watching and one of them let me step up to put my money in but the person I was playing was not as nice. He beat me without holding back one bit.

Ever since then I was a fan since it was such a fresh and awesome game.

First time I ever played Mortal Kombat was at Sylvan Lake, at the arcade in a waterpark. I had previously seen it in the Skydome store in Toronto and my brother had played it, but Sylvan Lake was the first time I played it. I got to the fourth guy with Raiden then had to go.

That was one thing that sucked about being young and going to arcades, whenever you're in the middle of having fun you have to leave. It was rare to completely play out the fun and say "OK I think it's time to go." One time at the Freehold Mall I was playing a friend in a game, not MK, and all of a sudden EVERY game in the arcade turned off. Little did we know, the mall was closing. We turned around and some Mexicans with brooms were laughing at us. Normally I wouldn't point out that they were Mexican, but again I like to paint a descriptive picture. To explain why this makes it all the more amusing, for those of you who don't live in the US, here in the states it is commonplace to see Mexicans who will work their asses off for little money in order to live here. They are normally silent and mind their own business. The fact that they were laughing at us was hilarious.

Also it has been pointed out to me that the reason for the odd reactions to my post was because of my immense hatred towards MK4yearsbehindingameplay. I want to take the time to make an official statement about it.

I hate MK4. It nearly ruined the franchise.

That is all.
