The throw has to be one of the best moves in Mortal Kombat. You can't block a throw, and they do good damage. That's why I like to put on Throwing Encouraged, so that when you do a throw, Shao Kahn says "Superb!" or "Excellent!"

First off, throwing is part of the game. The art of throwing isn't as easy as you might think it is because you have to be close enough to the person in the situation where they wouldn't be holding back to do it, and the fact that you can prevent throws to begin removes any right to complain about being thrown. If you are, it's your own fault.

Second, you can prevent throws by holding back, or any combination of buttons and back, so you're not blocking throws by hold D+B, your preventing being thrown, this is in every MK game.

Try using throws as a cross up to prevent being hit (even though blockable) upon landing, because 9 times out of 10 the other person isn't holding back when they are uppercutting.

People complain about the block button, but if back was block, based on MK's style, you could never be thrown, or, you could never prevent throws.

In the end, disabling throws = shit player.

Wow, I never knew you could fight off a block. Oh well, no one's ever done that to me.

No, all it you have to do his hold back. That's all, have someone stand next to you, as close as you can, hold down and back, make the other LP, you will not be thrown, now, hold block, release down, have them LP, you will be LPed, and not thrown, do any special move, duck it, hold back while the attacking character is in recovery frames, try to throw that character, they will not be thrown. When you see the next combo video, you will understand when throwing becomes skill.
