You can only face and play as Ermac in an accident in the arcade version. It is a glitch where Scorpion turns red and the life bar says Ermac for ERror MACro so there, for all you movie editors you forgot the name glitch and for you non believers in the almighty ermac theres youre ianswer he is in UMK3 MKD and accidentally in MK1 THERE

No. Ermac doesn't appear in the energy bar at any time. The red ninja appearing in the actual arcade is unsubstantiated. It was a rumor that people harped on for over a decade now. Thus far there has been no proof.
It would theoretically be possible for the text ERMAC to appear on screen, as in the ending text, but the energy bars don't have names that are stored as text, they are stored as images. Accidental images wouldn't happen.
