UMK3 arcade intro/attract screen problem
Has anyone had the problem with the UMK3 arcade only ever showing 4 character profiles, I can't remember offhand, but I think it's Reptile, Kitana, Jade and Scorpion. I'm not 100% sure. But on my machine, that's all the profiles that are ever shown. It has two profiles, then some quick cuts of action sequences, then the other two profiles, more clips, then it starts back at the first two profiles.
Has anyone ever seen this problem reported, or know a fix for it? It drives me nuts when the game is left on hearing the same 4 names announced over and over.
Thanks.

Also notice that for those profiles they just use vs. screen photos, instead of a unique full-figure portrait like it was in MK3.
That makes me wonder, though, since UMK3 was just an extra chipset added on to existing MK3 machines... were all the old profiles still in there? But the game was just programmed not to display them?

i think it had more to do with memory than anything else. they probably deleted stuff they saw as unnecessary to make room for the extra stuff added.

Deleted in terms of, weren't able to load it, the data is still all there, just like the Bank stage, it's still in the game, just not accessible due to loading operations.

Its not a problem, its how the system was designed. They had a maximum number of possible levels the way it was programmed. When they reached that and decided to add one more level, it meant losing the ability to access a different level.
The same goes for all the other content from MK3 that you don't see in UMK3. Its all there, as MK2KB said, just not accessible.
How many levels were accessible in UMK3? Was it 15 or 16? that would make sense.
