Any theory's why UMK3 wasn't released on PC, when I first played UMK3 on arcade i couldn't wait for it to be released on the home systems. MK3 came out on PC, why couldn't they have released an update pack, that just added the new characters, backgrounds and extras (i think SF2T was updated like that to SSF2T).

Only the Saturn got a port of the arcade game. I guess the PC like everything else was locked out.

The SNES and Genesis versions came out much later and were like strange bastardised versions of Trilogy.

Originally UMK3 was meant to be arcade exclusive. The idea was that you got MK3 at home but had to go to the arcade to play with the new stuff.

But Sega paid for exclusive rights for UMK3 for the next gen consoles to one up Sony.

That is why they skipped UMK3 for most systems and made MKT. They fulfilled their deal with sega, but still got to sell a new MK game on PC, PSX and N64.

thats right, Sega did that cause of sony making mk3 exclusive to 32-bit systems. (snes and genesis versions got made anywayz cause of them not being arcade perfect.) So sega beat them to the punch for umk3. So sony more than likely hated that and probably asked midway to somehow one-up then, hence trilogy. (come to think of it that might explain the one year delay for mkt on saturn) thats what the 32-bit wars did to each other. lol
