I know this doesn't stay within classic MK games, but it originates in them. My biggest concern is with reptile. I think he was at his prime in MKII, and went down hill in 4 and DA. What happened to the classic ninja look? the force ball? INVISIBILITY? maybe he had that in MK4, i have never really played it in depth. The reptile in MK:DA was a disgrace, and I think classic reptile needs to come back. Who's with me?

Yeh i posted a thread on this in the DA topic forum. I agree with you that they should bring back his ninja costume and original moves but the fact is they are continuing him on in MK games in a more lizard like state.

OK, i have given plenty of thought about Reptile's look and i think he looks cool for a Lizard but not for a ninja even though he has been a Lizard all this time(Look at his fatalities in the old MK games). But come'on, he was just a green Scorpion, is that what you all Human like Reptile fans call originality?? you might as well hack into MK:DA and make Scorpion green! If Midway didn't make Reptile interesting, tht is what you people will have, a green Scorpion in a different stance, nothing more.

They mentioned something in Deadly Alliance about his "de-volution"... maybe something is causing him to revert to a lizard form.

"Is it so important that you win one last argument with him?" "No, it is not, but it is true that I will miss the arguments; they were, finally, all that we had."

He was always a lizard. He just put on the guise of a human ninja when he was a bodyguard for Shang Tsung.

And his 'de-volution' is under strict scrutiny. The unlockable said that his change into his more 'primal' natrual form may be caused by his isolation from the Zaterran Matriarch (the female 'queen' of the Raptors, Reptile's species). Note that it says 'may', so it is just speculation at this point. I highly doubt it, though, since 1. the Raptors are all but extinct for centuries, meaning that he kept his human facade for many years after the Matriarch was killed, and 2. Reptile didn't start 'de-volving' until after his master, Shao Khan, was defeated. It's banged over our head that, due to his guilt for not protecting his master, Reptile went slowly mad and, as a result, his focus on his human disguise slipped. He was already devastated, and less human-looking, when he joined up with Shinnok in MK4, and didn't fully slip back into his 'humanoid gecko' form until after Shao Khan was presumed killed by the Deadly Alliance. So, the only way for the Matriarch theory to be true, is only if Reptile did something to Shao Khan to make him the Matriarch over himself, which would make his 'de-volution' seem more plausable (he was banished to the Netherealm after MK3, and he was separated from Khan after the assassination attempt, meaning that for that period of time, he was separated from his 'Matriarch'). Frankly, now that Midway has confirmed that Reptile's ending did, in fact, happen, I believe that Reptile was the main deceiver of the group, duping everyone into leaving him alone so he could search out for the Last Great Dragon Egg and fufill his destiny of becoming the Dragon King reincarnate. Like, 'Pay no attention to the crazed, pathetic nutball of an anthropomorphic iguana behind the human/Dragon King curtain'...

True, Reptile was always a green scorpion, as previously mentioned. But then again, scorpion was always a yellow sub-zero, and look where those two are now! completely unique characters that are essential to the MK plot. The MK team could quite easliy have developed Reptile into an equally unique character while keeping his human guise. His loss of that guise is described above, and I agree that Shao Khan's defeats drove Reptile to madness. All well and good, but still, WHY TAKE AWAY HIS MKII MOVES, AND TURN HIM INTO A WORTHLESS FIGHTER? WHY? CRAB-STYLE? PATHETIC!

Take away his MK2 moves and make him useless? He was useless in MK2, lol. I thought he looked cool and all but move wise he was the shits.

I think they should go for a more reptilian look but I haven't seen one that looks good yet. I personally think they are going for too chunky a look for him. He looks slow, or in the case of MK4, he looks down right stupid.

I see him as a highly organic, almost liquid character, but I dont think he'll end up that way in any MK game.

I couldn't disagree more with the first part. I think reptile had the moves covered with acid spit and forceball, and invisibility was just fun. But as to reptiles awkward appearances, I completely agree. He should be more like the reptiles he bears his namesake from. Agile, lithe, and very quick. I like your idea of an almost liquid manifestation

I guess my comments on him being usless in MK2 is tied more towards how they made him in MK2 and not to his moves, since I don't think he is useless in UMK3 and he has essentially the same moves. They just didn't like him in MK2 enough to program him really useable.

I think the Acid Spit and forceball and invisibility could make very interesting appearances in a 3D game. But, again, I don't think they'll ever get his looks or his moves really right in 3D.
