In the classic games, I'll have to go with Smoke's "Blow Up The Earth" fatality from MK3. It's cartoonish and seems inspired by the Marvin Martian thing.

In MKDA, vote easily goes to Quan Chi's neck stretch fatality. No bloodshed on that one.

A lot of the lazy "cut and paste" deals from UMK3 and MKT would have to be up there.

- Ermac's teleport punch
- Smoke's friendship
- the stage fatality for the lava hell pit was really lame

There's plenty more but I can't think of 'em at the moment.

I actually liked Smoke's Armageddon fatality, cartoonish and stupid though it may be. Back in the days when he was new (like when he had been first unlocked in my local arcade) everyone dug him no matter what he did and we all loved that Fatality.
We'd beat the game and say, "I saved the world from Shao Kahn...by blowing it up with Smoke many times!" grin
As for the worst Fatality of all time, that would be classic Sub Zero's censored Fatality in UMK3.

Watching from game to game, I come to the next conclusion:

MK 1: No bad fatals
MK 2: Reptile's invisible body split
MK3/UMK3: classic Sub-Zero's censored fatality
MK 4: Quan Chi's imitation
MKDA: Quan Chi's neck stretcher

MK1-Lui Kang's Cartwheel Uppercut(getting killed by an uppercut is lame to me)
MK2-Lui Kang's Cartwheel Uppercut(same as above)
MK3-Nightwolf's Lighting Axe(very quick and the person looks fine on the ground)
UMK3- Smoke's Decap(would have been ok but Ermac has the same exact one and Smoke should of had something different)
MK4-Tanya's Head Twist(it was just lame, not anything kool to see)
MKDA-Quan Chi's Head Pull(wtf is this? a joke? very lame)

I wasn't much for fatalitie's were the person was still intact and there body was perfectly fine. Stryker also comes to mind but atleast his Tazer fatality lasted longer then Nightwolf's very quick Axe Shock. Same goes for Lui Kang's oh so powerful uppercut which is just lame imo.
Tanya and Quan Chi fatalitie's speak for themselves.

This is tough. For individual characters its a Tie between Stryker's Taser fatality and Nightwolf's electric axe of heinousness.

Including the pits though, I'd have to say the Scorpion's Lair fatality. That was crap. Absolute crap. In my mind its even worse then the fade to black Classic Sub one because they actually made a frame or two of animation for this, and it was still that horrificaly bad. And, oh man, on Sega Genesis? Forget about it, that is the worst ever. It friggin clinged when they hit the lava. Garbage.

Scorpion's Hell pit was pretty lame. The person should of hit a pillar and then just fell in or something.

It was to quick and nothing special.

Scorpion's Hellpit I agree is the worst, I use to do that to people in the arcade and cover the screen with my hand where they land just for kicks. But for those of you who never experienced it on Genesis and SNES...................

**Warning: Not suitable for all audiences. None of the sounds you are about to hear are edited or the fault of poor emulation.**

Here the are:
Genesis UMK3 Pit Fatality of Badness
SNES UMK3 Pit Fatality of Badness

It wasn't really bad ones that pissed me off, it was the lazy ones that did it. For example, they couldn't even take the time like they did with MK II's fatalities for 3. MK 3's weren't that bad, but the cut and paste stuck out like a sore thumb in UMK3 and MKT. I think the reason that Sub-Zero's "censored" fatality was the way it was is because they simply didn't want to take the time to animate him reaching and pulling back.

They just took him, made him do a high punch animation against the opponents forehead, made the opponent shiver and they faded the screen to black. I always imagined that the screen behind the darkness was just sub-sero and the opponent in the same spot that they were before the screen went to black.

I didn't like the cutting and pasting because of parts of limbs staying in the air magically or when an opponents head was knocked or cut off, they just stood up and their face had the same look, except instead of being in place A it was in place B.

And of course they copped out on things like MKII Kung Lao's Hat Slice (Down the middle) fatality and the Pit II, because they would have had to make new animations. I was surprised they even kept Baraka's blade lift fatal but I guess they were able to use existing frames for that (though it still does look a bit "off").

I kinda wish they kept the Kung Lao one even if it was something gay... like MKII people will use the awesome original animation, but if he slices an MK3 person they just explode.

I hate Jax's giant stomp in MK3. WTF is it even supposed to be? Why can Jax grow big? It makes no sense. It's not even funny as a joke Fatal.

Speaking of awful pits, The Pit III and Shao Kahn Tower are pathetic on Genesis. On the tower the spikes are like really small and just barely cover the opponent and on Pit III the buzzsaws are tiny and the opponent will often just miss them completely, yet explode anyway.

Looks like I have some more capping to do lol, yeah I remember the Bell Tower Fatality, they bounce off each floor and it takes forever to land, and then to top it off they land on this convenient little bed of spikes, I assume they are Shang's Fatality spikes.

The blades on the Pit 3 for Genesis are tiny as well and spin very slowly, they are Kabal's ground blade. Recycling like crazy. Insulting.

As for MK2 Kung Lao's split, for the MK3 characters they could have just split the body at the waist and had it fall off sideways. No new frames, just turning them sideways, perhaps make them levitate or something, anything just to keep a popular freaking fatality lol.

It'd be kind of a waste since only MK II Jax and MK II Kung Lao could split properly.

I actually like the MK3 hat slice, where they are split into pieces.

Actually no. Unless there is a copy for a console I don't know about. SNES, Genesis, PSX, and Arcade UMK3 and MKT don't have that. If you lighten I believe you see nothing happen. Just he holds his hand there and either keeps holding until it cuts out or he goes to stance or something like that.

The main reason why they made it black out is cause they were too lazy(or budget/time restraits) to make a grab and pull animation for Sub-Zero and then adding a spine to everyone's head. The head's would have probably be all cut and paste but it would have been nice to see all new face animations since the faces in MK1 were funny.

Also I could have sworn someone else saying when they brightened the screen that you can see his hand just resting over there hand like it was before it blacked out. I doubt they went through the extra trouble of making an animation of him ripping off the person's head only for it not to be seen.
