Only counting the fighting games. No Spin-Off games like Special Forces or MKM:Sub-Zero.

MK1- Scorpion and Sub-Zero

MK2- Baraka and Reptile

MK3- Kabal and All the Cyber Ninja's

UMK3- Ermac and Jade

MK4- Quan Chi and Reiko

MK:DA- Mavado and Drahmin

Now I liked mostly all the characters that I listed except for Mavado and Drahmin but they still were unique.........just they sucked imo.

Bosses/Sub-Bosses/Secret Characters- MK1 - Shang Tsung and Goro MK2 - Shao Kahn and Kintaro MK3 - Shao Kahn(again only cause of his upgrade) and Motaro MK4 - N/A MK:DA - N/A Secret Characters - Noob Saibot in MK2 and UMK3. Fighting him in UMK3 was definitely different. He blended in so well in his Dorfen that it was hard to judge the hit area sometimes.

MK 1 - Scorpion and Sub-Zero
MK 2 - Baraka and Kung Lao
MK 3 - Kabal, Nightwolf, and the cyber ninjas
UMK 3 - No one was really unique, must MK 3 characters and pilate swaps
MK 4 - Quan Chi
MK:DA - I'll agree with Mavado and Drahmin

I liked every character I listed. Drahmin's a little on the weak side though. How he became an Oni was interesting though.

Out of all the ninjas, I think that only the two originals, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, were really unique. Everyone else that came after them, Reptile, Smoke, Noob Saibot, Ermac, and Rain, were cool, but hardly unique.

For the MK 2 characters, I went with Baraka and Kung Lao because they were the most original. Baraka with his mutant appearance and blades coming out of his arms and Kung Lao for the most ingenious weapon I've seen in a fighting game - his hat. I didn't want to include Mileena, Kitana, or Jade because they were just basically Midway's answer to the male ninjas already established.

MK 3, I felt, had a very strong cast of new characters, all of which were very unique. Kabal, Nightwolf, and the cyber ninjas (who expected them?) were all nice additions as well as unexpected. Stryker was a cool concept to (just an ordinary Joe caught up in everything) and Sindel was classic. Sheeva was the only character I thought was pretty weak. Appearantly I wasn't alone. She rivaled Stryker for MK 3's most hated character (poor Stryker wink) but I think Stryker came out on top, seeing how he wasn't removed from the SNES/Genesis version of UMK 3. smile

Speaking of UMK 3, I decided to skip it entirely, because no one was really unique. Everyone in the game was A) already established in MK 1, 2, or 3, hence I would have talked about them already or B) was just another color swap. Yeah, Ermac's backstory was cool, but he was just another ninja in the vein of the original Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

MK 4's the exact opposite of MK 3 in my opinion. Where MK 3 had an exciting new cast with only one dud (Sheeva), MK 4 had a boring new cast with only one real high light (Quan Chi). Not even Fujin was all that exciting and cool.

DA is somewhere in between MK 3 and MK 4 in my book. Mavado, Frost (even if she's basically a Sub-Zero clone), and Drahmin were all pretty interesting. I didn't include Frost because I felt she was hardly unique (like I said a female Sub-Zero). I thought Mavado was cool and Drahmin, while interesting story-wise, sucked as far as game play (he didn't have any cool moves, stances, or even a decent Fatality). Nitara and Hsu Hao were decent. Not really worth remembering though. Then you get to Bo Rai Cho and Li Mei, who are better off forgotten in my opinion.

I don't think you can call any character that has been palette swapped at some time "unique".

Kabal is probably the most original MK character.

Well see I said Reptile since he was the only character able to become invisible in MK2. That alone makes his very unique.

Ermac wasn't that unique but his slam and juggles made him unique to me. That slam was nice.

I see Hideo that we think pretty much the same with atleast 1 character in each game almost.

Keep it coming people.

I have to disagree since the moves are what mostly makes a character and if the moves are unique then that character is unique. The outfit only adds to the character. Say 75% of the character whether he is good/kool or bad/lame comes from moves while the other 25% is from the appearance/outfit.

To say Reptile was not unique just cause he is a ninja is lame imo. He was the only character who could turn invisible and add that with his force ball and spit and you could see someone flying around like a rag doll with Reptile. That is unique imo.

MK1-
Sub Zero
Scorpion
Raiden
Goro
Shang Tsung

MK2-
Baraka
Kung Lao
Shao Kahn

MK3-
Kabal
the Cyberninjas
Sindel

MK4-
Quan Chi
Reptile (for breaking free of being a ninja, or, for that matter, human)

MKDA-
Drahmin
Bo Rai Cho (for proving that a fat drunk guy can hold his own in MK)

And Hideo_Sakaguchi, quite a few people liked Sheeva; there have been tons of threads and posts in the MKD forum saying that Sheeva should come back. It always pisses me off, actually, because Sheeva's dead, and she didn't play a big enough role to return.

Hey Noob, you sure you're not like my twin or something? Cause besides Fujin me and you thought the same exact thing and you like Mike Myers alot I take it just like me.

Seems alot of people think pretty much the same so far.

Keep it coming people, I'm interested to see how many MK fans thought the same or if they thought different.

Yep, the good old killers. Jason and Myer's are my favorites, but Freddy does get my vote for smart ass remarks while killing someone.

Bo Rai Cho (a fat guy in MK)
Drahmin (played differently from anyone else)
Nitara (the vampire thing and wings are original touches)

Well overall OBVIOUSLY is Scorpion and Sub-Zero. In any game, because people who don't follow MK, can always recognize Scorp and Sub no matter which game it is.

Well that's more of a factor of them being just well known and just popular, not really unique.

But yea, everyone knows who they are. My Mother even knew who they were when I used to play MK as a kid.
