I was planning on buying Mortal Kombat Trilogy for PSX or N64, I was wondering which is better, and why?

PSX version goods
- good graphics
- Has all the characters

PSX version bads
- Loading time

N64 version goods
- No loading time

N64 version bads
- Weak graphics. The characters look blocky...
- Missing characters.

PSX has far higher quality sound than N64.
N64's Trilogy is like a Trilogy for Snes as the PSX is to an arcade.

Ya know I read something on here and kinda glanced over it, but someone said there's a way to make loading time faster on a PS2 main screen? Can anyone explain that?

Thanks guys!

I was also wondering if MKT works on PS2, because my friend said it didn't and I thought that he was wrong, but I wasn't sure.

It works, but its glitchy. It freezes at various points. Whenever I played MK2KungBroken on the PS2 I believe we ended up exitting the match when it said finish him.

Nope... it's basically the same as the ps version. The only differences were a few sounds and the saturn version doesn't have the spinning dragon logo at the begining.

Also MKT will freeze once you beat the game if you play it on the Ps2.

So no story or anything after you beat the game. Just a black screen then you gotta reset the game.

My Mortal Kombat Trilogy game i play on my ps2 and it has never frozen up on me. U can make the playstation games load faster but everytime u restart or shut off ur ps2 u have to reset ur playstation driver setting press triangle and select disk speed - fast. this will reduce the loading time. i think the mkt game looks better on the ps2 also. wow

I'll have to try the disc speed when I hook my PS2 back up. As for the look, the PS2 can't really make it look better since its just a 2D game running on a PS1 processor (which is built into the PS2 and used by PS2 games as the IO Processor) and it is running at the same resolution as it did on PS1. The only difference might be if you hook it up with a better connector, like S-Video it might look clearer, and will probably look blockier to you.

I just tried the disc speed, noticeable difference on the loading time after the car picture flip onto the screen on Twisted Metal 2, the loading text flashes twice instead of like..more than twice. Never fiddled with the driver info before.

Thanks

My advice is invest in a 6 button gamepad and get the PC version.

PC version is the same as the PS version, except without the loading times.

PC version is by far the best version (if you can get it running :P)

Hey CMETH, you stolen my signature lol =)
But thats a good sign that its good =)

I really dont know what i believe about MKT PSX vs N64.

Some people say that the gameplay is different (better?) on N64.

Ohh and by the way, wich Charakters are missing in the N64 version?

I believe N64 didn't have Unmasked Sub Zero, MK1 Kano, Mk1 Raiden, MK2 Jax, and Mk2 Kung Lao. It didn't have Goro and Kintauro.

Also, one of the major gameplay complaints is that it is changed dramatically from the arcade version of UMK3. Basically, the PSX version tried to reproduce the gameplay of UMK3 for the Arcade as closely as possible. Things that are the same from UMK3 to PSX MKT, like characters that have the same moves, are practically unchanged in any way. Also, little things like collision detection and hwo the characters fly away from hits is dead on. N64 is much more like UMK3 for SNES. Just about every aspect of the gameplay has been changed from UMK3 for the arcade, so that there are a lot of sloppily created aspects. There are infinites added to characters because of reduced limitations on doing moves, like the ninja teleporting for instance.

Even if the N64 version was better, I doubt you'll be able to find it.

I put the disk speed on fast, but it still locks up. Does anyone else have this problem?

Saturn MKT has horrible transparancy for things like flames, Chameleon and shadows. It's also got some messed up sounds, like the robot's voices are distorted.
